Notes From The Phillies’ 9-8 Loss To Miami

The Philadelphia Phillies lost the finale of their series with the Marlins on Thursday afternoon 9-8. Their record drops to 48-80.

On The Mound

  • Jake Thompson came from the minors for yet another opportunity. And once again, failed to impress. Thompson lasted just five innings, giving up five runs on seven hits and four walks.
  • Jesen Therrien failed to make it out of the sixth, and gave up three runs.
  • Hoby Milner pitched 1.1 scoreless.
  • Luis Garcia took the loss, giving up a run in the eighth.
  • Ricardo Pinto got the team through the ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up eight runs on 12 hits.
  • Another day, another homer for Rhys Hoskins. Hoskins went 2-5 with a solo shot, and drove in two more runs later in the game.
  • Tommy Joseph went 3-5 with a three-run homer and a double.
  • Nick Williams went 2-4 with a double, a walk, and drove in two runs.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 2-5 at the top of the order with a couple of singles.
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-4 with a walk.
  • Hyunn Soo Kim went 1-5 with a single.
  • Maikel Franco turned in an 0-3.
  • Cameron Rupp went 0-3 with a walk.

Final Thoughts

Rhys Hoskins continues to amaze.

He’s almost hitting a home-run a day, and at the rate he’s going, he may push for 20 homers by the end of the season, which would truly be remarkable considering how late in the season he came up.
