The Philadelphia Phillies won the first game of their series against the Cubs on Friday night 7-1. Their record improves to 47-80.

On The Mound

  • Jerad Eickhoff gave up a solo home run in the first inning, but that was all he gave up, going five innings and striking out eight to get the win.
  • Hoby Milner pitched a scoreless sixth.
  • Adam Morgan pitched two scoreless, striking out five.
  • Hector Neris mopped up with a scoreless ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up seven runs on 11 hits.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 3-4 with two doubles and a triple, driving in three.
  • Freddy Galvis went 2-3 with a couple singles and a walk, driving in a run.
  • Nick Williams went 0-4 with three strikeouts.
  • Rhys Hoskins went 1-3 with, you guessed it, another home-run.
  • Tommy Joseph went 1-4 with a single.
  • Maikel Franco went 2-4 with a home run.
  • Jorge Alfaro caught the game went 0-2 with two walks.

Final Thoughts

Rhys Hoskins has made the Phillies watchable again, crushing his ninth home run. It’s literally a home run per game for Hoskins at this point.
