Notes From The Phillies’ 3-2 Win Over Miami

The Philadelphia Phillies snapped their two-game losing streak on Thursday night, taking down the Marlins 3-2. Their record improves to 50-83.

On The Mound

  • Ben Lively bounced back from a rough start against the Cubs, tossing six innings and allowing two runs on six hits.
  • Adam Morgan struck out the side for a scoreless seventh.
  • Luis Garcia worked a clean eighth.
  • Hector Neris picked up the save in the ninth.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up three runs on eight hits.
  • Ben Lively drove in two of the team’s runs, going 2-3 with a couple singles.
  • Cesar Hernandez went 2-5 with a double.
  • Freddy Galvis went 2-4 with a double.
  • Nick Williams went 0-4 with two strikeouts, dropping his average to .275.
  • Rhys Hoskins went 1-3 with a single, extending his hitting streak to 13 games, and also worked a walk.
  • Daniel Nava went 0-3.
  • Maikel Franco turned in another 0-3.
  • Pedro Florimon went 1-4 with a single and drove in a run.
  • Cameron Rupp went 1-4 with a single.

Final Thoughts

A bizarre game where the pitcher winds up providing the majority of the offense.

The Phils haven’t been scoring much the last few games. Rhys Hoskins’ hasn’t homered in a couple days, and Nick Williams has really been struggling over the last few weeks.
