Notes From The Phillies’ 9-8 Win Over Miami

The Philadelphia Phillies won the first game of their series with the Marlins on Tuesday night 9-8. Their record improves to 55-89.

On The Mound

  • Nick Pivetta endured another rough start, getting lit up for seven runs over five innings.
  • Hoby Milner pitched a scoreless sixth.
  • Recent call-up Victor Arano and Kevin Siegrist combined to get through the seventh.

  • Luis Garcia pitched two scoreless.
  • Edubray Ramos pitched scoreless 14th and 15th innings to get the win.

At The Plate

  • The offense put up nine runs on 17 hits.
  • Odubel Herrera hit at the top of the order, and went 3-8 with a double.
  • Freddy Galvis went 1-7 and drove in a run.
  • Aaron Altherr went 2-7 with a couple of singles and drove in a run.
  • Rhys Hoskins went 2-6 with two homers, giving him 16 for the season and also worked two walks.
  • Nick Williams went 3-6 with two doubles and drove in two runs.
  • Maikel Franco went 2-5 with a double.
  • Jorge Alfaro went 1-6, striking out four times.
  • J.P. Crawford started at second, going 2-5 and driving in two.

Final Thoughts

With two more homers last night, Rhys Hoskins brings himself ever closer to that 20-home run mark. It’s truly astonishing giving the short amount of time that he’s been in the big leagues for.

  1. I’m in Loss column mode. I want the #1 draft pick for worst record. Hopefully they don’t listen to the same guys that influenced the Adam Haseley,Mickey Moniak, or Cornelius Randolph selections.

    • F the loss column I am enjoying watching again! Made it to the 11th last night! As for listening on draft pics my guess is that they are the same guys that influenced the Hoskins, Nola, Kingery, Altherr and scouted Herrera rule 5 etc… way too early to whine about Moniak and Hasely
