I was frustrated watching the Sixers battle the Celtics last night at the Wells Fargo Center.  Their best player, center Joel Embiid was getting the ball at the top of the key time and time again.  I’m okay with that every now and then, but it makes no sense to give the ball to a 7’2″ big man at the top of the key.

I want to see them run plays which allow him to get the ball in the paint or headed to the paint.  Surprisingly rookie Markelle Fultz may do the best job of getting the ball to Embiid down low.  Because of the lack of true centers in the NBA, Embiid would be able to dominated if he got the ball in the low post more often.  He would also foul out key players for the opposition.

Embiid was settling for those three-pointers and other outside shots.  They weren’t fall for him and you could see the frustration building.  The only Sixer hitting from outside consistently was J.J. Redick who led the team in scoring with 19.

Won’t watch game 4 vs Detroit tonight because the Birds are home on Monday Night at the Linc. I’ll on-demand the game on Comcast tomorrow to watch it the next day. Hopefully Embiid shows up. Sixers are a one man team right now. If Embiid isn’t playing well or not playing at all they won’t win. Embiid has been awful in 2 games. Clanging 3 pointers off the rim and being ignored by Simmons.

worth more than Hasley, Moniak, and Randolph in trade value. Although Okafor isn’t. He won’t be in the NBA next year. So far the Phils last 3 first round draft picks look like duds and none of them earned a promotion from single A.
