Eagles Hire Sirianni

Per ESPN’s Tim McManus and Sal Paolantonio, the Eagles are expected to announce they have hired Indianapolis Colts Offensive Coordinator Nick Sirianni as Head Coach.

Sirianni was the San Diego Chargers QB coach in 2014 and 2015 while Reich was OC and then was brought to Indianapolis when Reich was hired in 2018.

The hire seems to signal that the front office is committed to keep Carson Wentz for at least the next year. The connection with Reich is significant in that, while Reich was the OC for Wentz in 2017, Wentz had his best season of his career, before getting hurt.

Wentz is entering his second year under his new contract and moving him would be quite the financial burden on a team that is already way over the salary cap.

While the Eagles have not confirmed reports, the expectation is that Sirianni and his staff will be tasked with rebuilding Wentz albeit in what could be a rebuilding year.

Who benefits from this besides Wentz?

The Colts last year used a three back attack to take the pressure off of Philip Rivers and the offense. Rookie Jonathan Taylor stepped up after Marlon Mack went down with an Achilles Injury. Veterans Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins had solid seasons in both the run game and passing game. The Colts don’t have a clear-cut number one receiver but the Colts use route combinations to get players like TY Hilton, Michael Pittman the ball in open space.

This bodes well for both Miles Sanders and Boston Scott. Both backs excel in the run game and can catch balls out of the back field. Getting Sanders and Scott involved early will allow them to gain a rhythm and help take some pressure off Wentz. The Eagles do not have a clear-cut number one receiver either, but Sirianni could use Reagor and Fulghman in ways he used TY Hilton and Michael Pittman.

*A potential name to watch to come with Sirianni is Anthony Lynn. Lynn and Sirianni have a relationship that goes back to their time with the Chargers. *

I like this Hire and Excited to see who he brings on the Staff.. Been around Coaching most iof his adult Life as his Father/Brother are both lifelong Coaches, He’s from Northwestern PA and has Football in his Blood
He’s 39 Years but has 10 Years of Coaching Experience in the NFL already which is impressive to get such a young start.
He’s worked with some Good Offensive Coaches like Anthony Lynn, Mike McCoy , Ken Wisenhut, Todd Haley Jim Zorn, Brian Daboll and Frank Reich.
.
Defensively he’s worked with Good Coaches as well Matt Eberflus who will likely be a strong HC Candidate next Season for someone and also Defensive Coaches like John Pagano & Joe Barry & Romeo Crennel in his past

I also like the fact that he’s Coached WR’s before moving up to QB’s Coach and Offensive Coordinator though he did not call Plays during Games
As WR Coach with the Chiefs and Chargers -He’s helped Developed WR’s like Dwayne Bowe, Malcolm Floyd, Keenan Allen, Eddie Royal, Tyrell Williams, Vincent Brown when he was a WR Coach
At QB, He’s Worked with Phil Rivers, Andrew Luck and Jacoby Brissett
Colts have had Top 10 Offenses in 2 of his 3 Years in Indy and has also contributed to the RB Room in having versatile RB’s who can run and catch and be important parts of the Offense (Marlon Mack, N Hines, J Taylor while at the Colts and Melvin Gordon & Danny Whitehead while with the Chargers

I know many Fans are disappointed with the Eagles passing over Duce Staley once again, but I believe this Hire of Sirianna is a very good Hire and obviously will need some time to get his people and program in place
He’s demanding, yet not arrogant and Coaches his Players and Fellow Coaches hard which will be nice to see
He’s flexible with you utilizing Game Plans based on Personnel whether its a Run First Offense, Pass Happy Offense and has demonstrated utilizing the 12 Offense with Multiple TE Sets while with Indy and Chargers

With Next Week’s Senior Bowl Week being the only real “In-Person” Scouting/Talent Evaluation Event for this Years Upcoming Draft due to the Covid Crisis which has cancelled the Indy-Combine Event and will cancel many College Pro Days, It was imperative that the Eagles have a HC and some semblance of a Staff so they can have a Plan moving forward when it comes to the Draft and I believe many Local Media and Fans have not taken this in account enough…
How can you really evalute Players if you don’t have a HC or an Offensive, Defensive Philosophy in mind yet ?
The Eagles simply were not in a position to wait another Week or 2 for other potential Candidates (Bienemy or Kafka or Daboll to finish) or whoever else as some of these Candidates withdrew their Interest anyways, as
many of the OC/DC and Position Coaches that are available are being hired by other Teams with Coaches in Place as I write this ..

1. I think any of the names have the possibility of being good or a disaster.
2. every year the hot names get gobbled up and they are no more a sure thing than the lesser known guys- many a hot names get hired and fired quickly — remember we got Doug P as a ‘last resort’ and we got Chip as the hot guy– MEANS ZERO
3. Like all new coaches this guy has to win the locker room- it is not done w/ X’s and O’s- from media reports (only so reliable) this guy appears to be a carson hire, meaning the Duce folks and the Doug folks are going to have to be convinced with actions not words-
4. It probably signals the end of some big names for the eagles, even if they sell pennies on the dollar
5. I predict more than normal new faces on the eagles roster next year… upwards of 20-25 (pushing 50%)

This Hire is definitely about attempting to Fix Carson Wentz but also an eye to the Future as well
I believe with the Strong Recommendation/Endorsements by Frank Reich and John Dorsey made this Hire a No-Brainer.. I’m sure Sirianna had a real good Plan on how to Fix and probably got a lot of insight and recommendations on how to Deal/Coach with Wentz from Coach Reich before he ever boarded a plan to Lurie’s place in FL
I also believe that this Season is a major Re-Tooling and Re-Shaping of the Roster and to get out of the Salary Cap Hell that they currently sit which Owner Lurie said would take about 12 months to do..
This Hire is all about 2022/2023 Seasons and Progress with Wentz and the Roster needs to get younger and cheaper which has between stated by many people for the last couple of Off-Seasons
Do Note that there could still be a slight chance that Wentz wants out no matter what, but for this to happen may require him to re-do his Contract which who knows if he’s willing to do..

Meanwhile here are some Predictions about this New Coaching Crew that were Hired this Year

First New Coach Who loses his HC Job ..
Urban Meyer at Jacksonville will step down after 2 Seasons for Health Reasons
(He can’t stand losing and it will drive him nuts)

First New Coach to Win “Coach of the Year”
Arthur Smith – Falcons

First New Coach to make the Playoffs
Brandon Staley – Chargers, There’s a lot of Talent on this Chargers Team

First New Coach to Yell and Get in Fight with the Local Media during a Press Conference
Greg Saleh – NY Jets

First New Coach to get an Extension and Raise
Nick Sirianna – Eagles

First New Coach to Go Unnoticed around Town all Off-Season
Dan Campbell – Detroit Lions

Texans discussing Sending QB D Watson to the Carolina Panthers in Exchange of Draft Picks and Players
Panthers hired Scott Fitterer as their GM and who was a former Asst GM to John Schneider of Seattle for years
and is known as an solid Talent Evaluator and Player Personnel Executive and is known to be aggressive in pursuing Talented Players like his former Boss John Schneider of the Seahawks has always been

QB Questions at so many Teams this Off-Season besides the Eagles, its remarkable really..
The Patriots, Steelers, Jets, Colts, Bears, Broncos, Texans, NO Saints, Washington FC and Carolina
and then toss in Teams with New Coaches/GM’s like Atlanta and Detroit who may look to move on from

AS for the QB carousel 100% agreed it shows just how important that position is… teams seasons are so QB dependent. Add in the huge chunk of salary cap they take up- it makes for some interesting dynamics across the league. — you mentioned 12 teams and I think that ‘could be’ light– Cowboys, do they pay Dak a 1 year $36M salary after a rehab of ACL? (not a QB friendly injury), Giants (are they really riding w/jones?), Miami (are they Tua believers???)– this is the reason why the italian stallion was hired– fix carson

John Schneider of the Seahawks is probably the most aggressive GM’out there HAC… Anyone who follows the Entire NFL would acknowledge this..
trade Ups, Trade Downs every Draft
Signing Players that other Teams cast off
Trading Star Players after he feels that they have peaked.. He does a great Job with his Roster and Salary Cap Management which keeps the Seahawks relevant every Season

Aaah you have a guy that GMs your home team who is super aggressive moving up and down, drafting “hidden talent” and stowing it away… I don’t like it but it’s ballsy. Got from what the 15th pick to 2 thru a series of bold moves. Traded their starting qb days before the season …The Jones pick was an aggressive attempt to steal round 1 talent that backfired. Seahawks have made aggressive moves that didn’t work as well. Belicheat typically is a down trader etc. the packers aggressively drafted a QB in round one when they have the best player in the league. Teams do that stuff. Hell Howie ,over up like 15 spots in the 7th to draft Malaita.., that’s aggressively pursuing talent! Wow
I knew you justify your post but if a GM isnt aggressively pursuing talent in the most aggressive brutal sport then he isnt employed.. just ludicrous

Sixers playing excellent yet still playing second fiddle in this town… but that’s ok. They look like all their parts are clicking very well. Let’s bring this up deep into the playoffs when their half court game stalls because a professional basketball player won’t take a 15 foot wide open J. Hence they play 4 v 5. I hope I’m proven wrong I just don’t see how that can happen in the deep playoffs.

If I get the job week one we put up 50 points, week 2 35 points then when th DCs figure it out and we score roughly 7 -10 points per game… I get fired, Laurie pays me my final 2 years of my 3 year contract

The Colts DC is Matt Eberflus and next move or promotion would be up to a HC
Hopefully they Hire Anthony Lynn, Matt McCoy or Todd Haley as OC to add some Coaching experience to the Staff

Other Eagles news
Former TE Coach Justin Pelle, took a position with Arthur Smith’s Staff for the Atlanta Falcons

Eagles also have granted permission to Special Teams Coach David Fipp to explore opportunities so they are cleaning house and I expect Duce Staley will likely move on as well

I like FG’s Hire of Gannon for DC
They will Draft and Rebuild this Secondary this upcoming Draft with 2-3 early picks on the Defense.
Again, Senior Week is Next week and will be one the few times all Draft run up to see Prospects in person so it’s imperative to have most of their Staff together with a plan and shared experiences
Eagles are going Young,Young, Young with Players and Coaches and I love it and I’m still not 100% sold that Carson Wentz is still part of the picture as an Eagle moving forward
Keep an eye on QB Kelly Mond of Texas A & M during Senior Week
I think he’s going to play and show well and could move up the Draft Boards and is 6-2” 220lbs and a very good Athlete
and a bigger version of Jalen Hurts and could be a surprise 2nd/3rd Rounder
Draft Selection to add to the QB Room
As Sudfeld will be gone and the Eagles only have Wentz and Hurts under Contract entering the 2021 Season so they likely will add a QB in this Draft to have a cheap back-up under contract for 4 Years in case they move on from Wentz

Detroit Lions with their New GM & HC and Long time QB Matt Stafford with Ownershios blessing have decided to Trade Stafford for Draft Capital as they begin their Rebuild
Stafford is 33 Years and has 2 Years left under his Current Contract which pays him
$20 Million in 2021 and $23 Million Due in 2022
Stafford is from Texas and is will be pursued by many Teams at a very reasonable Salary
Detroit is pushing the QB Revolving Door early in the process which is a very smart move by them and will likely force other Teams who are unsure about their QB situations (which are many Teams) will now have to decide and move earlier as Teams will start making moves
By Early/Mid March before Free-Agency and of course the Draft
Teams reportedly interested in Stafford

With the QB shuffle league wide I believe the off season/draft will be the wild Wild West. The QB position is so damn complex right now. The four teams this weekend have 2 GOAT guys and 2 young dynamic guys. QBs have more flux in how they perform… the whole key for the birds is Wentz…. is he ab,e to be cured?
Eagles need to infuse talent (as do the other 31)… I wanna see this: if Dillard is truly a round one OL he should be a talented addition , If a new coaching staff can get JJAW to be a player that’s an extra 2 rounder, Mailata graded out very well…can Dillard play guard?

I’m not sure Dillard can play Guard but they would be smart to work him at LG position to learn playing inside .
He’ll have to get stronger for sure but there were many reports last summer that he did get stronger last off-season from his Rookie Season
I don’t think he ever played any of the interior OL positions while at College
and was strictly a OT from day one

If Center Kelce does Retire, then Seumalo can slide to Center and Dillard/Herbig can compete at LG,
with Coach Stoutland now reportedly returning , maybe Kelce squeezes 1 more Season in..
I have to believe that Mailata is the Starting LT next Camp/Season and especially with Stoutland back

This Off-Season will be crazy and we could see 12-15 Teams Change QB’s between Free Agency,Trades, Retirements, Cuts and High Draft Picks
I’m not sure if this helps/hurts the Eagles cause if indeed, Wentz simply wants out of Town which wouldn’t make sense, but hey, it’s 2021 and anything is possible and the Eagles do have have to prepare if he truly wants out..

To the eagles fans that whine about the running game. Remember I’ve been saying all along that in the NFL teams pile up rushing attempts when they have passed a lot to get a lead. For proof lets point to the 2 SB teams. The chiefs ran 25 times… nice number but as I stated 13 of those attempts were in the 4th quarter when they had the lead.
Tampa ran 24 times… nice number but as stated 13 of those attempts in the 4th quarter when they had the lead.
The ‘we need to run the ball narrative’ is so dumb and just short sighted. Its lazy and shows how uninformed fans really are.

Packers should have used one of those Running Plays down in the Red Zone to run a Quick Trap up the Middle
In truth that was a horrible sequence of 3 Plays there at the end of the Game, for the Packers,
I thought Rodgers should have ran the ball on that 3rd Down pass attempt as he had open field to his right when he scrambled out the Pocket and could have at least gotten do close to the End Zone making a 4th Down Call more probable, and why their Coach went for the FG was just plain stupid,,
Down by 8 Points inside the 10 Yard Line with 3 Timeouts and the 2 Minute Warning
You have to go for it and if it doesn’t work, then you have a much better chance of stopping them deep in their own zone to get the Ball Back with one last chance, instead of kicking a FG to now trail by 5points but have to kick off where the Bucs get the ball to start a drive at the 25-30 Yard line instead of inside their own 10 Yard line
Another bonehead move by Coach LaFluer was going for 2 Points early in the 3rd Quarter which ended up making their Deficit 8 Points at the end of the game instead of the usual 7 Points.. I don’t care what analytics card tells me, I never got for a 2 Point Play until I have to, but not beforehand as you end up chasing points the remainder of the Game which impacts many things
What was the Plan for LaFluer there at the end of the game with that 1st & Goal Sequence where a TD and 2 Point Conversion are needed to Tie the Game or else your Season is over ..

On HAC’s Observation of not having to Run the Ball to be an effective Offense or a Super Bowl Contender

(2019) The 49ers ran the Ball more than they Passed and were pretty effective at it and really should have beaten the Chiefs
(2018) – Both the Rams and NE Pats were much more Run Oriented First Offensive Teams throughout this Season
(2017) Super Bowl Season of the Eagles – The Eagles were a more balanced Offense and were one of the Top Rushing Teams in the NFL that season
(2016) the SB was a match up to 2 Pass Happy Offenses in Atlanta Falcons/NE Pats similar to this Year’s Match-up of the Chiefs/Bucs
(2015) the SB was a Matchup of 2 Run Oriented Offenses with Strong Defenses as both the Panthers and Broncos were limited Offensively that Season
(2014) The SB was between the Pass-Happy NE Pats versus the Run first Seattle Seahawks Offense
2013 – The SB was the Run Oriented Seahawks over the Pass-Happy Broncos Offense of this Season
2012 – SB was between the Ravens and 49ers who were both more Run Oriented Offenses and who had good Defenses

delve deeper grasshopper you will see that those heavy run teams did it late in games when they had the lead. Remember I’m a run first guy- point is the nfl isn’t necessarily set up that way-
green bay ran the ball the week before 36 times because they were in a solid lead- this week 24 times because they were behind.
the week before tampa ran 36 times– sounds great… 19 of them were in the 4th quarter when they had a lead.
You mention the 17 eagles ‘balance’ — well in the NFC championship game the NUMBERS indicate a nice balance 30 runs/ 3 passes– however they ran 23 times in the second half when they were up24-7 and 31-7— thats NOT BALANCE its the exact opposite!–
pay attention and delve into the numbers– number of attempts is a lazy mans way to interpret running game proficiency. game circumstances–SCORE, DOWN AND DISTANCE are your run game keys— not simply number of attempts— thats a dummy talking

Teams are more likely to Run when the Running Game is actually working and productive regardless of the Score
But it’s hard to get an OL and RB in Rhythm when you don’t run it enough which always helps to keep a Defense and Pass Rush honest which was one of Dougie P’s faults of going too many long stretches of no runs at all..
Play-Action Passes only work when you have a comittment and threat to run, and when you do t then it’s a wasted motion and time for the Offense and actually enhances the QB to get hit or have a busted play
Check out how many times Wentz was sacked when attempting a Play Action Pass where the Defenses were never fooled

No Excuses for 2020
Many Teams had great Seasons with the same Covid restrictions, Newbie Coaches, Players with new Front Office Personnel and the many challenges
that 2020 Season brought across the NFL and yet, there were 11 Teams that Won 10 or more Games which is about 35 % of the NFL which is pretty good

Poor Execution and Poor Coaching (Arrogance) and Poor Practice Habits lead to Poor Execution and Discipline on the Field which the Eagles Fans saw plenty of this Year and again this was with a Veteran Coaching Crew and Roster for the most part which is just Inexcusable …

I’m glad to read that Duce is moving on as it’s time for him to spread his wings elsewhere as he had apparently run his to his max limit with the Eagles , I’m also glad they are keeping OL Coach Jeff Stoutland who can help the Younger OL on their Roster to keep improving as the Eagles will be transitioning to a much Youngster Team including the OL over the next 2 Seasons

Its pretty obvious to Run the Ball More when having a lead..
It “Shortens the Game” and keeps the Clock Going, Its less risky running the Ball then passing
where the opportunities for Negative Plays are increased, non of this Rocket Science to anyone
The Offensive Teams that are most balanced tend to keep opposing Defenses on their heels and guessing more instead of becoming one-dimensional and therefore predictable …
Coach Doug Pedersen and DC Jim Schwartz became very Predictable in their Formations and Schemes over the last few Years and anyone who follows, watches or Coaches around the NFL know this all too well so the Eagles stifled themselves in a sense…
A Play-Callers Weakness is failing to evolve and the ability to make adjustment to your Opponents adjustments and the Eagles Offense and Defense were just not very good in this area the last couple of Seasons .. 10-8, 9-8 and 4-11-1 (Total Record of 23-27-1) since the Super Bowl Season and remember this was all achieved when playing in one of the worst NFL Divisions of Football the last couple of Years where the Eagles played 18 Games out of their 51 Total Games (35% of all game versus the crappy NFC East Teams)

Cowboys will attempt to sign him to the richest contract in NFL history one year after a major knee surgery- very risky but its the market- they gambled and lost. All the hand wringing and second guessing w/contracts is kinda silly. The QB position, being the most important position in all of sports is in the drivers seat. The big injury stuff can be devastating to the athletic QBs- look at Wentz, RG3 and many others. it takes its toll.
Rogers is grossly underpaid and is getting ready to make a stink, Watson is fairly paid and getting ready to make a stink and Wentz is paid and getting ready to make a stink.
Reading the ‘flowery reports’ about Sirriano — seems he’s a WR whisperer- gonna strengthen our WR corps- Look for Jeffrey and Deshawn to go. Gonna get REagor to play like a number 1 and JJAW to play like a professional not a damn high school kid

If Prescott is looking for a $40 Million a Year Long-Term Deal, I could see the Cowboys resigning Dalton or maybe pursuing Matt Stafford in a Trade, who has 2 Years left at $22-23 Million per Season which is a bargin for an established Veteran QB

If that happens it is yet another interesting twist in the qb off season- It would be huge for them to move on from him. That is a decision that goes way beyond X’s and O’s and way beyond $. Would be a total game changer for the cowgirls

Further proof that fans are whiny ass bitches. The fans of the chargers are happy their old OC is gone because HE WAS TOO RUN DEPENDENT. STUBBORNLY STUCK TO THE RUN– YOU CANNOT MAKE THIS UP! So I like to delve into the numbers they ran the ball a whopping 42% of the time while the eagles ran it 40% of the time- our dummy fans are pissed we didn’t run enough, their fans pissed they ran it too much-
Teams run the ball roughly 35-45% of the time- Baltimore is an anomoly at 57%, of course that is the Jackson impact- the two SB teams are at 37% and 39% which with the number of W’s they have you have to include 3-4 kneel downs and some time consuming drives in the 4th.
Anyone who sticks to the old adage ‘run to set up pass’ is a dummy— its kinda like a few years ago when the dummies wanted to dump Kelce for a 6th round pick because he was ‘too small and they couldn’t go 3 yards and a cloud of dust’– dude may be a HOF center, certainly an all-time eagle and the dummies wanted to dump him for nothing because they are stuck in the 1960’s full back, tail back dive plays! HILARIOUS

Where have your gone Norm Bulaich !!!
I think all Fans realize that the NFL is a Passing League and will continue to be so as time moves forward
with having Big Play WR’s and Dual Threat QB’s who can hurt you from the Pocket and out on the perimeter with their legs and athleticism , Teams run so many WR Formations with Multiple TE’s and Backs out of the Backfield rather than having a 3 Down cowtail RB is almost obsolete in today’s game which is why its effective for the Teams that do run the Ball more often like the Browns/Ravens/Titans as NFL Defenses just don’t see this or prepare for going against a Run Heavy Team that often anymore

A great Way to negate a Pass-Rush is to still Run the Ball with quick Traps, Draw plays, jet sweeps, screen plays, etc, etc but it is hard to put a Game away in the 4th Quarter when you haven’t run it much during the first 3 Quarters and where your OL and RB are not in sync/rhythm enough

The Great Offenses mix it up and don’t become predictable which I believe the Doug Pedersen Offense became, similar to what Chip Kelly’s Offense became and what even Andy Reid’s Eagles Offense became during his last couple of Seasons in Philly.. Great Offenses have to take chances, try new Plays and stay ahead of the Curve as Defenses and Trends around the NFL Catch up..

This is also why having a Very Good and Deep Secondary are needed which the Eagles have also been lacking the last few years along with a consistent Pass-Rush which the Eagles have had which has been a cornerstone of their Defense for Years..

Lets see how this New Young Eagles Coaching Staff Approach both sides of the Ball
Sirianna has said that he likes quick routes where the ball is into the Receiver’s hands within 5 Yards so that they can make plays and yards after the Catch ? Maybe Reagor can do this but who else ? Watkins/Fulgham ?
Eagles Receivers will have to Win at the Line of Scrimmage and be strong and explosive enough to make Plays
after short receptions, Reagor/Watkins/Fulgham show potential in achieving this, but I’m not sure about the other WR’s
It will be interesting to see how the Eagles WR Corp Develops as they have a bunch of WR’s under Contract for 2021 Season. (Jeffrey,D-Jax, Grissom, Reagor, Watkins, Hightower, Burnett with both T Fulgham and G Ward pending Free-Agents)

you don’t realize that its a passing league– the eagles are right at average in rushing attempts (actually for a terrible team they are above average)- remember bad teams have fewer opportunities to establish a run game as they are trying to catch up and lengthen the game.
Saw several games where KC ran the ball like 35 times this year. Thought wow, Big Red is establishing the run….nope not at all! in those games he ran like 25 times in the second half after getting the lead. remember once a team establishes a big lead all the coach wants to do is get the hell off the field, run their basic run plays, stay in bounds, avoid injury, avoid showing any trickery, get in the locker room, have a beer and go home!
The philly narrative on doug was in fact fake news!

One Narrative that is Correct about Doug is that he became very predictable with his Schemes and Play Calling the last 2 Seasons which didn’t put his Offense in great positions to be successful ..
His Record speaks for itself since 2018
Below .500 overall playing in the worst Division in Football the last 3 Years
Yards Down, Points Down, 3rd Down and Red-Zone Efficiency all down while Turnovers and Penalties up from their once strong positions in 2017 ..

I believe the Eagles and New Coaches Draft mostly for Defense and Rebuild the Defense while with your Talent
from the Back End to the Front while having Sirianna and his Offensive Asst Coaches learn and figure out what they have offensively with the Current WR, TE and RBs for there is some Talent on this side of the Ball

Ar RB , both Boston Scott/Corey Clement are Free-Agents and the bigger Backs J Howard/Hoyfield probably don’t fit what Sirianna is looking for in terms of Depth at RB Position so expect some new Players come in to compete
at the RB Position..Maybe the Eagles Sign Boston Scott to a new deal, but I don’t see them keep anyone else

Reports around the NFL of how far Carson Wentz has fallen in terms of Building a Franchise around HIm
Eagles are really stuck with him for the next 2 Seasons as the Cap Hit/Dead $$$ is almost too much to bear if they simply Cut/Release HIm, but word around the NFL is that he’s damaged Good with way too much of a Contract to take on … .
With Experienced, Cheaper, Short-Term QB’s that Teams can pursue this Season like Matt Stafford, Jamies Winston, Tyrod Taylor, Andrew Dalton, Cam Newton, Ryan Fitzpatrick, Sam Darnold, Gardner Minshew

Why would a Team Commit to a 28 Years Old starting QB coming off his Worst Season with an Injury history and who is about to Start with a new 4 Year at $128 Million Contract and to make things worse is a PLayer with Baggage with lots of ? marks concerning his Leadership,Practice Habits, Accountability and overall Coachability issues that he presents

If your a Bad Team already then Your Rebuilding with a Young QB who the Teams/Coaches can mold in their likeness which means a Draft Pick or maybe very Young QB like Sam Darnold who needs a Fresh Start

If your a pretty Good Team with an aging QB and with a possible Opening (Colts, Saints, Steelers, Patriots) , then You will want a shorter term, cheaper option at QB who can give you 1-2 Solid Seasons but not commit
to the amount of $$$ and Time that Wentz’s Contract calls for

The Reality is that most in the NFL do not see Wentz as a Franchise QB and with his heavy price tag and contract that the Risk just does not justify the Reward as there are way too many other options out there at QB
whether you want to Pay Top $$ for a more proven QB or you have plenty of options if you are looking for a stop-gap, bridge QB to get you to your Next Franchise QB
They are stuck between a Rock and Hard Place and if Wentz has burned too many bridges here in Philly to return, then the Return for him is going to be nothing, the Eagles may have to include Draft Picks to a Team to take his Contract on similar to what the Houston Texans and Cleveland Browns did in a Trade involving Brock Osweiler a few years ago who had a terrible contract

who states that he still has issues with the Eagles Organization, Reports have Sirianni stating that he’s not tying his success and Coaching Job on a Player who doesn’t want to be an Eagle and they he rather go out and get his own guy that he can build, mold and trust and this message from the New Coach and Staff is gaining traction with the Front Office, It’s also being relayed that GM Howie is done with Wentz and that it’s really Owner Lurie still clinging to the “Rebuild Wentz Mantra” around Novacare whereas Roseman wants to move forward and start out Fresh with the New Coaches..

Wentz led team to SB but meh after

Seems like No Teams are happy with their Current QB Situations except for Chiefs,Bills,Ravens,Chargers, Bengals
Seahawks,TB Bucs, Tennesee,NY Giants, Browns and that’s about it.

Patriots,Jets, Dolphins, Eagles,Cowboys,Washington FC, Detroit,Chicago,Minnesota,Indy, Steelers,Carolina,
New Orleans, Falcons,Houston, Jacksonville, Denver,Las Vegas,LA Rams and SF 49ers all have questions, concerns about their QB Situations which a few of these Teams will address with the upcoming Draft Class

Outside of Trevor Lawrence, the next 4-5 QB’s who will go in the 1st/2nd Round (J Fields,Z Wilson, T Lance, Mac Jones, K Trask, K Mond) will all need a year or two to develop) but many said the same thing about Justin Herbert last year and he played very well and exceeded most peoples expectations as a Rookie last Season for the Chargers

I would not be surprised at all if the Eagles Select a QB this Draft for I believe the Carson Wentz Situation may only get worse though the Eagles hands are tied due to his Contract, but if he wants out, then how can you have him back in the building and especially with a new Coaching Staff
Eagles sitting at #6 will probably get some Trade Offers by Teams looking to move up to get a QB if Fields,Wilson,Lance are still on the Board)

The Jets at #2 and the Dolphins at #3 really hold the Key for the Eagles this Draft
If Both Teams or their Draft Spots if they were to Trade out, go to QB’s, this will push the Top Position Players down the Draft Board for the Eagles (OL Sewell, WR’s Chase & Smith, LB Parsons, CB Surtain or Farley could still be on the Baord at #6)

If the Jets and Dolphins are content with their QB Situations or choose not to Trade out and Select Position Players at #2 and #3, then this will push more QB Prospects down the Draft Board creating a lot of Interest in the Eagles #6 Pick…

Falcons at #4 have lots of Needs – QB, CB, Edge Passer being their Biggest needs
Bengals at #5 don’t need a QB and will likely take OL Sewell or one of the Top WR ‘s or maybe CB

Numbers, Numbers, Numbers, Love how you can dissect them and turn them into almost anything

Take the 3 Long Running Plays made by Sanders totaling approx 225 yards and the Eagles go from
the 9th Ranked Rushing Offense to the 16th Ranked Rushing Offense over the Course of 16 Games
Their Rushing Average goes from 5 Yards Per Carry to 4.5 Average per Carry which is still very good but is skewed by these 3 long Runs and with the Eagles having so many QB Runs this Season

In Fact – QB’s Wentz/Hurts had some 115 Carries between them for approx 620 Yards..
Some were Designed Runs, but many were just scrambles off of broken Plays so when you strip away the QB’s Rushes from the Eagles Offense in 2020 and the 3 Long Runs by Sanders, then the remaining Rushing Attack Rushed for a measly 1165 Yards Total on some 285 Carriers making this a much less effective Rushing Attack for approx 80 Yards a Game and 4 Yards per Carry but this is why its so important to have a Mobile QB who get get positive Yards when Passing Plays Break Down which for the Eagles occurred quite a bit in 2020 due to shaky QB and OL Play

HAC is always right

I love the hire of Nick Sirianni. It is a complete unknown of course, however listening to Coach Reich praise Sirianni is very telling.

Coached with him 6 years in SD and Indy. The hire has me very excited for the WR position. JJ Arthega Whiteside is not a bust yet. I know people are writing him off, but I hope we keep him and turn his career around.

Raegor in year 2 should flourish.. He has all the tools in the world.

Makes me wonder if we take a WR like everyone has us doing in there mocks. I feel like Smith is too small, and Chase could be very good…but can he be elite?

I hope the OL Penei Sewell is there for the taking.. Can never get mad at taking another OL with age starting to settle in.

and the Eagles have become the Philly Colts, poor Frank Reich, who has seen his Staff Purged ..
Rumors are that the Colts will heavily pursue QB Matt Stafford, knocking a Team out who potentially would pursue Wentz

Keep an eye out on the Denver Broncos for pursuing Wentz as the process Plays out

Texans hire former Eagles/Chiefs/Ravens WR Coach Dave Cullen who is an excellent Coach
and long time Coach under Andy Reid
though most Fans and the Media will not be excited about this Selection..
If the Texans move on or forced to trade D Watson, they could also be in Play for Wentz
and or even local boy, Jalen Hurts, which may require the Eagles to select a QB at #6 this Draft to start developing behind Wentz if they find no Teams interested in Wentz as they are likely stuck with him in 2021
I really can’t see a scenario where both Wentz and Hurts are on the Eagles Roster for 2021
maybe the Eagles can get a late 1st Round or more likely a high 2nd Round Pick for Hurts, then salvage Wentz in 2021 with the hopes of moving him after a decent Season, obviously if Wentz bounces back with a good 2021 season then you keep him for 2022 while developing the #6 Pick QB Selection
If Wentz continues to play poorly in 2021, then you definitely move on from him and turn the reins over to your #6 QB Selection for the future

On a side Note, The QB Class for 2022 looks very good with lots of potential if the Eagles went into a full re-build mode for 2021 where they turnover their Roster this off-season of Veterans for Future Draft Capital

Eagles new QB coach is a lifelong friend of the Hurts family. Jalens dad coached this guy. He’s known Jalen since he was 4. Wentz is sitting in a tree stand right now, reading all this and saying… shit I’m gonna be traded to Houston or some such he’ll hole!
Eagles going very young with the staff… this “retool” is going to be very interesting. NFL things can turn around super quick, outhouse to the penthouse and vice versa. Nice article today about that TE from Florida being a generational type of TE… highlights look incredible

I’d love the Eagles to select TE Kyle Pitts Pick at #6 , Trade Ertz for a 3rd or likely a 4th Rd Pick and then Select Pitts, who can play all over the formation from the end of the line, from the Backfield, Slot, even out Wide…
He’s from the Philly area I believe

From the Bismarck Times

Carson Wentz reportedly is going to Retire
from the NFL as His Wife and Family are very upset how this whole Franchise QB and NFL thing is working out and He’s especially unhappy in Philly and being made out as a scapegoat by the Organizations Failures

He’s out and moving back to North Dakota

The Bismarck Times is terribly out of touch as it’s obvious that Doug was made the scape goat!
Carson likes the lifestyle 100$ M can bring… exotic hunting trips, tricked out pick up trucks etc… he ain’t retiring….

Texans HC Dave Culley reportedly is Hiring
Josh McCown as OC or QB Coach, Lovie Smith as DC and don’t be surprised if HC reaches out for Doug Pedersen who has a strong relationship with Culley as the Play-Caller
I know Doug would rather sit home and fish and have Jeffrey Lurie Pay him almost $6 million but he may want to help old friend Dave Culley out as a Coach/Play-Caller

Coach Sirianna’s Introductory Press Conference Today ..
Wonder How many Questions will he get about Wentz ? Over/Under in Vegas is 9 Questions …
I saw his little interview with Dave Spordaro last evening and sounds like an intelligent, motivated Coach
who is putting together a younger, motivated, energetic Staff which is good to see ..
He kinda of looks like the Golfer Dustin Johnson ..

I’m not as worried about Winning over the Locker Room as others have suggested as many of these Eagles Veteran Players will likely not even be Eagles by the 2022 Season and the Young Players I believe will like his Energy and Opportunity to Learn, Grow as Players and Contribute with an opportunity to Play which was harder to do under the the Doug P Area unless there was Injuries as Doug liked to play his Veterans hell or high water

press conferences are useless– I get it– never tip your hand in such a competitive business so why bother even speaking. listening to radio, vitriol over lack of concrete answers etc- I’m not sure why a fan would think in a million years the guy would say anything other than non-answers—?? it takes a real dummy to think he’s going to say: “Carson will be traded”, “Carson is the starter”, or any specifics— I actually wish he was MORE VAGUE!- give me Belichik and just a gruff ‘we will prepare for game 1 as best we can’ type of answer-
If there is any thing that can be read on this is I don’t believe Carson can be happy with this conference UNLESS he was already assured a starting job and told to not pay attention to the non-answer stuff.

His Comments were exactly what he said the Day Before with Dave “Softball” Spadaro Interviewed which was a
practice run for what he said Today
I give him a C+ overall for his Introductory Press Conference and expect he’ll be fine as there isn’t really much to say right now about the Tetam as he’s just gotten Hired and needs to get his Staff and Player Evaluations and some Schemes put together
It would have been nice for him to speak a little more in depth about his Background, His Upbringing and Passions about Football and his biggest Influences and about the Staff He has Hired and what he envisions his Team to look like moving forward and maybe even a little bit about his Family, which maybe I missed

Should be an Exciting Year for the Eagles with a lot of new faces and energy and hopefully good football ideas and schemes

Carson’s Done in Philly, and will have to move on if he wants to continue his Career..
Eagles are stuck with his Career unless his Agent/Team of advisors decide to re-structure as to make him easier to Trade for
I believe that Howie/Wentz Agent/Team are doing this right now behind the scenes as thry
Will have to move quickly (by Mid/late March) to get this accomplished for both parties to move on before the Free-Agency & Draft which will change the QB landscape around the NFL which doesn’t benefit the Eagles or Wentz
Time is of the essence and the Restructure will likely never be announced to the Public until after a Trade is consummated where as the New Team will announce the new contract restructure as this is the only way the Eagles will get some type of Compensation back and this also allows Wentz and his new Team to tell their fans that Wentz is a Team Player and has worked out a new Deal with his New Team to shows he’s committed to playing for a Winner and will do what it takes financially to make it happen

The Coach Sirianna Presser was a pretty much the same things he said with the Spordaro Interview last evening
but I guess this is to be expected .. Keep Getting this Coaching Staff Completed and Move Forward with the Roster Evaluations and Howie Roseman and his Group need to Shed about $100 from this Current Roster if they want to partake in Free-Agency at all this Year and/or to Extend any Core Players for the future, so they need to start making the difficult Decision’s very soon and start moving Forward as a Team..

Currently 67 Players Under Contract for 2021 who will be subject to Cut/Trade/Release or Restructure
in Order for the Eagles to reduce their Salary Cap by their Projected amount of $80 Million
(D-Jax, A Jeffrey, M Goodwin, Z Ertz, D Barnett, M Jackson, J Kelce, R Mcleod will likely all be gone )

Players like B Brooks, Lane Johnson, F Cox & D Slay may all have to look at some new Restructured Deals to free up Cap Space in 2021

Current Eagles Free Agents who are likely not to Return or be Offered Contracts so their Salaries from last Season are not factored in the 2021 Salary Cap, as they technically are not under Contract so the Resigning of any of these Players would only Add to the Salary Cap Deficit

J Mills, N Robey-Coleman, N Gerry, V Curry, C LeBlanc , D Riley, J Peters, C Clement, B Scott, J Perkins ,
N Sudfeld,

Current Free-Agents who are likely to be Re-Signed by the Eagles once they open up Cap Space
LB A Singleton, WR Greg Ward, Punter Cam Johnston, TE R Rodgers , maybe a DT H Ridgeway or TY McGill ?
