First round pick Lane Johnson has the biggest upside of the Eagles draft picks, but the surest pick the Birds made during the draft was the selection of Stanford tight end Zach Ertz. He is without a doubt just what the doctor ordered for the Eagles offense and will be a factor from the start.
A [...]

Eagles head Chip Kelly couldn’t stop talking about the New England Patriots utilization of their tight ends. You could see that he was enamored with Rob Gronkowski and Aaron Fernandez, who present matchup problems for the defense. He likes the idea of having big receivers, who can run and make plays in the red zone [...]

Surprisingly, Eagles head coach Chip Kelly was very open yesterday when he was asked why he was attracted to former Houston Texans tight end/h-back, James Casey and how he plans on using him.
“I think the versatility that you can present to defenses is when you have a certain grouping in the game, there’s not only [...]

The first move the Eagles made in free agency today was to get a versatile lead blocker for LeSean McCoy and Bryce Brown. They signed Houston Texans free agent fullback/tight end James Casey to a three-year deal.
He’s 28 years old and a tweener at 6’3″ and 240 pounds. That’s not big for a tight end [...]

I loved what I saw last night from the tight ends. Both Brent Celek and Clay Harbor had good games especially Harbor. Celek did a nice job with that hook and slide route which he ran. We learned that backup quarterback Nick Foles does a good job of looking up his tight ends.
Celek was targeted [...]

Eagles tight end Brent Celek has missed most of training camp due to a sprained knee he sustained on the first day he practiced. I think Michael Vick has missed him because the Eagles offense has been unable to establish the consistency you would like to see.
He was out at practice yesterday and he had [...]

Eagles backup tight end Clay Harbor has been getting plenty of opportunities to make plays for the Birds this training camp because starting tight end Brent Celek injured his knee on the first day of full-team workouts.
Harbor hadn’t been able to catch the ball consistently during the OTA’s, and it prompted the Eagles to look [...]

On Monday the Eagles were working on plays and defenses to use against the Washington Redskins. Yesterday they were preparing for the Dallas Cowboys and today it will be the New York Giants. Tomorrow the target will be the Cleveland Browns whom they play at the beginning of the season.
This has been a methodology of [...]

Despite the Eagles reliance on the deep ball, I think the most important receiver which Michael Vick needs to be on the same page with is his tight end Brent Celek. Vick and Celek started singing the same tune as the season drew to an end, so I’m very hopeful that they can get it [...]

Normally, I would keep each position group separately. But, because the productivity of these two units go hand in hand, I have decided to discuss them together. The units I’m talking about are the Eagles’ tight ends and offensive lines.
At the beginning of the 2011 season, Philly’s offensive line was a discombobulated unit. Honestly, to [...]
