Sports Radio Vs. Blogs OnThe Internet PDF Print E-mail
Written by Garry Cobb
On Wednesday after I heard a few minutes of Howard Eskin on the air with Buzz Bissinger as they went after blogs on the internet.

I don't have any problem with the criticism.  Some of it was legitimate whereas some of the citicism is nothing but jealousy.

I've heard guys in television and sportswriters express criticism of the sports radio hosts in the same way Eskin and Bissinger were going off on bloggers.  I remember being in the Eagles lockeroom at the Vet and hearing the sportswriters go off about how there were too many erroneous reports.

I could tell these guys were veteran sportswriters who were seeing guys on the radio take over as the main columnists in town. Some of what they were saying was legitimate in that credible reports were mixed in with garbage from some host and many of the callers. I hate to see somebody's reputation damaged by a fictitious story.

For the most part, guys who are in the media are attention seekers and some don't like to share the attention.

I've heard and read erroneous reports from every news source.  Most of the time, the newspapers double check their facts before putting some in there.  I don't take any of it too serously.

I don't see radio shows and internet sites going any where if they're making money.   It's as simple as that.

I do wish websites would not just report and say ridiculous rumors. I try to develop sources with credibility and I'm not going to put something up that I know isn't true.

All of us are capable of making mistakes.  Also I don't believe in being negative just for the sake of being negative afterall this is just sports, it's not that serious.
