As the roster of the 2013 Philadelphia Eagles and their season is studied, analyzed, turned inside out and upside down, I decided to add my other two cents. You’ve seen the revamped secondary, but I want to take a look at the one group of Eagles players that – for me – may be the [...]

I got the chance to talk to Eagles new defensive coordinator Billy Davis today and he wasn’t given us much when it came to what exactly he planned on doing with the team’s defensive personnel. He talked in generalities about having a defense, which will be on the attack. Not necessarily blitzing all the time, [...]

I’ve heard from numerous NFL sources here in Mobile, Alabama at the Senior Bowl, that the Eagles assistant coaches and scouts are talking about getting players for a 3-4 defense.
Specifically they’ve been asking and talking a great deal about big defensive linemen, who will play in this weekend’s Senior Bowl game.
I’ve also learned that the [...]

Those of you who were listening to John Lynch during the game, heard him call out Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie and Nnamdi Asomugha for refusing to play the game the way it’s supposed to be played last week against the Cowboys. He told it like it was and I like the fact that Andy Reid and Todd [...]

The Eagles were totally embarrassed by a bad Washington Redskins team. Getting beaten 31-6 by such a bad team means that the Eagles can’t be considered a legitimate NFL football team.
I know Reid and Mornhinweg were hoping Nick Foles would be able to help get the offense going against a mediocre Washington Redskins defense. That [...]

This surely wasn’t the way new Eagles defensive coordinator Todd Bowles saw his career as a defensive coordinator starting. He stood on the Eagles sideline and saw the Falcons put together a 16-play, 8 plus minute drive, which ended in a 15-yard touchdown pass from Matt Ryan to Drew Davis.
On the first touchdown of the [...]

Rookie linebacker Mychal Kendricks and rookie defensive back Brandon Boykin were taken to school by the Steelers, especially on the final drive of the game. The youngsters were telegraphing the coverages on the last drive and they have to learn to disguise what they’re doing by moving around before the snap of the football.
They must [...]

On paper, it didn’t look like a very good day for the Eagles linebackers. The Eagles allowed 136 yards on the ground, but that stat is misleading and I’ll explain why below.
DeMeco Ryans: Ryans had good control of the defense. He played 96% of the teams snaps on defense. He finished with six solo tackles [...]

On the last drive of the game, the Birds made the mistake of telegraphing the coverages they were in to an experienced quarterback like Ben Roethlisberger to make it easy for the Steelers. Big Ben is one of the best third down quarterbacks in the NFL because he’s quick to recognize the coverages. You have [...]

The Eagles defense faces a different challenge this week when they battle quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers. Last week their task involved covering New York wide receivers and forcing Giants quarterback Eli Manning to move from his favorite throwing spot in the pocket. There wasn’t much of a threat of Manning scrambling and [...]
