The Saints Defense Was Really The Difference

Look at the offenses they played against in their two playoff games and the Super Bowl.

First they had to play the Arizona Cardinals and we all know how explosive they can be.  They beat up Kurt Warner and knocked him out of the game, which ended any hopes the Cardinals had of winning.

They forced two turnovers and held the Cards to 14 points.

In the next game versus Minnesota, which is another explosive offense, the Saints defense forced five turnovers.  Count them five.

I thought the Vikings were the better team but you can't win a football game when you give the ball up five times.  The Saints defense set up some short drives for the New Orleans offense.

They dodged bullets again and again.  Tracy Porter stepped in and made the play which put them in the Super Bowl.

Turnovers are the most important stat other than the final score on the scoreboard, which forecasts who is going to win.

Finally in the Super Bowl, against another high powered offense, it was Porter again with the interception that won them the football game.  Who would have thought that the Saints defense would be able to hold the Colts to only 17 points?

The fact that the New Orleans defense was able to score made the game look like a laugher even though we know it wasn't.

Again they won't get the credit buy the New Orleans defense was the difference.

Yes. So sad that our poor defense couldn't pull games out like that! Didn't matter that Brees looked unstoppable. It was the defense which one the Super Bowl. Who knows the Colts D might have stopped Bress all of a sudden if there was overtime!

I don't care who is playing at some point your defense has got to make a play. And they did just that. And not only that, special teams with the onside kick. That's how you win championships, good offense, good defense and a little luck.
