Michael Vick: “65% In Atlanta, 85% here this year, going for 95% to 100% next year”

NBC-10 aired a taping today of MIchael Vick being interviewed by John Clark and Vick has something interesting things to say. One item which stuck out was the fact that Vick says he didn’t want to come to Philadelphia originally because he knew he was going to have to sit behind Donovan McNabb and Kevin Kolb.

“I didn’t want to come here to be honest with you,” Vick said. “I knew I was going to be behind Donovan and Kevin, and I wanted to play. I just didn’t see myself playing a heavy role in the offense.

“After awhile, I said to myself, you know what, it’s just a blessing to have a team want me right now. Got the opportunity, and last year, everybody kind of grew on me.”

Vick said he’s got plenty of room for improvement.  Clarke asked him what percentage of his ability he was played at while in Atlanta.

“65% in Atlanta, 85% here this year, going for 95% to 100% next year,” Vick said. “I think next year will definitely be the year. That’s the only thing I can think about now. It’s funny because two years ago, I never envisioned myself being in this position. Four days after the playoff game, I’m thinking about next year.”

Vick said he has already talked to Coach Reid about what he needs to improve on in order to take his career to the next level.  It probably had something to do with pre-snap reads, recognizing the blitz and making the proper adjustments at the line of scrimmage.

He said he wants to return to Philadelphia and believes this is the best situation for him to play his best football.  Vick continues to rave about how much Andy Reid and his staff helped him improve as a quarterback.

Absolutely,” was Vick’s response to Philadelphia being the best place for him to play. Vick continued with, “I know we’re only going to get better as a team. I would love to stay here, love to be here, and I think this team gives me the best chance of winning a Super Bowl.

As you can see Vick wouldn’t guarantee that he would be back here with the Eagles.  Still while saying that he wouldn’t guarantee that he would sign with the Eagles.was interviewed.

Assuming they even have a season next year (and I think they will) Vick will be here. From what I understand, players can be fanchised prior to the CBA or pending lockout.

Vick and the Eagles offense should take another step forward next year. They obviously need to address the o-line a bit but even with the guys they have now another year together will only make them better. Vick made huge strides this year and seems committed to improving even more. If he stays true to his word, the sky is literally the limit for this guy.

Although, Reid likes to draft college tackels and play them at guard They should heavily consider Mike Pouncey from Florida. he played center this year, mainly because they had nobody else but he is going to be a stud guard in the NFL. I actually thought they should have drafetd his brother last year.

Question – if Vick gets better at adjusting plays at the line of scrimmage next year, does that mean he’ll be able to change a play from pass to run? Because it sure seems that is the only way Reid will run the ball more. People don’t understand that because McCoy and even Harrison produced when called on. I can’t remember which year it was but the year Garcia took over at QB… they sure seemed to ride Westbrook that year. They don’t necessarily need to go that far but running the ball more and well should open up other opportunities. That makes things at least slightly easier on the D also.

Vick should be asking for some O-line protection…..it will prolong his career and allow him to operate within the offense. When everything breaks down like it was the six or seven games, he can revert to his ATL style of play, not to mention also take some beast hits…..don’t forget, Reid actually pulled his RT near the end of that playoff game because he was playing so poorly….we MUST get better play from the offensive line if we are to have any hope at all of Michael making it through a season and to our goal of a championship.

Reid will never help his QB by running the ball 11 times. DID U know since 1988 Super Bowl teams ave running the ball 28 times. Reid is half that. Did u know Westbrook averaged 5.1 yds a carry heading into the Superbowl Reid ran him 16 times. Pats ran Dillon 28 times. Did u know McCoy average 5.2 yds this year Harrison 6.1 McCoy ran 12 times against the Packers Reid has failed his Qb’s failed his players and failed the fans
