| Tra Thomas and Torry Holt to get cut | ||||

I'm not surprised by either of these moves. Thomas was in spot duty all year and started only three games. The Jaguars needed to address the position of left tackle in the offseason for sure, so signing Thomas made a lot of sense. However, when draft day rolled around and they used high picks on Eugene Monroe and Eben Britton, Thomas' fate was sealed. You know he'd most likely be one and done with the Jags at that point. As for Holt, he didn't have a terrible year. 51 catches for 722 yards isn't a disgrace, but it's not great either. Especially when you consider that he's 33-years old and just can't separate from defenders anymore. Both players were informed of the team's decision recently, but nothing can be official before this week. The Jags reportedly want to give both guys as much time as possible to catch on with other clubs. |

Former Eagles left tackle Tra Thomas has been informed that he will be released by the Jacksonville Jaguars this week. The team will also be parting ways with wide receiver Torry Holt.

jacksonvilel is a franchise stuck in the proverbial transition but did have a solid season in 2009 (playing the same AFC South Division is no easy task, behind the Colts,
the physical Titans and improving Texans)
T Thomas was signed last year as insuraance as they went with youth and the future with drafting O/Lineman with high picks last years draft. I beleive he will retire and is at the en d of the road which was a solid, good career
I do believe Holt can still play but would have to be in the right kind of team and the right kind of sitaution as a 3rd/4th WR to bring veteran leadership to a team and help out young WR's or a Playoff team who needs that position upgraded.
Teams I could see being interested in Holt based out of need would be the Ravens,Dolphins ,Panthers,49ers ,Falcons,Bears,
Jets and possibly teams like the Eagles,Patiots based on losing some WR's with trades,free-age ncy or due to injuries
