Donovan McNabb did an interview with Howard Eskin this afternoon and there were no bombs dropped.
Donovan said he was getting ice cream for his daughter when the Eagles made the pick of a quarterback with their first pick. As for all of the talk about the Eagles drafting Houston quarterback Kevin Kolb, McNabb said when he's healthy, it's his job. McNabb didn't sound like he was ready to have a heart attack because they drafted Kevin Kolb with their first pick. Many would like you to believe that Donovan was hid out in a darkroom thinking about doing something bad to himself, when in fact, he's been up at the Nova Care Complex working out and getting ready for the season. On a side note, he's way ahead of schedule when it comes getting healthy, to the point where he could play in all the preseason games.
McNabb came across the way I expected. Donovan said he's going to help Kolb as much as he can, and he's eager to meet him and develop a relationship with him. Number five said he plans on playing with Philly for the next 8 to 10 years and leading the team to a Super Bowl victory. Donovan went on to say that if for some reason his time ends here in Philly, he'll do everything he can to get the kid ready, then turn the job over to him. McNabb said he's not focusing on them drafting a quarterback with the first pick but he's focused on getting healthy. Donovan went on to say that everything will take care of it self so he's not worried about anything other than getting ready to play.
Make no mistake about Donovan is first class. He works harder than anybody, performs the best he can and most of the time that's at a Hall Of Fame level, and doesn't trash his teammates or his coaches. Now after he's spoken, we all see that it was much to do about nothing. Everybody around Philly tries to make him talking or not talking seem like it's the end of the world but it's not.
Here in Philly McNabb brushing his teeth is a controversy.
All that Donovan is so sensitive nonsense isn't on the up and up. How can a guy battle his way up through all the levels of competition that Donovan has come through and not be able to deal with competition. That's ridiculous but some people think it's believable when it's not. I've known Donovan for years and he's a confident athlete. We need to stop trashing our athletes. Legitimate criticsm is one thing but What a joke. People need to stop flat out making up things. I know we all have to make a living but let's not get into making things up. I guess if there's no news people decide to make news.
