I hope you're spending some quality time with your family, friends and loved ones this Memorial Day. I'm putting the gang in the Tahoe and we're getting ready to jump on the New Jersey Turnpike and go up to Connecticut for a family outing.
We're celebrating all the graduations in our famiy this year. We have graduates from Temple, Rutgers and Columbia, so we've got to give them all a pat on the back and encourage them to keep going.
We're a blessed people to be living in the United States with the prosperity, safety and freedom we enjoy. A lot of courageous men and women have made that possible. They sacrificed their lives in protecting this country and all that it represents and we need to all thank them for it. It's easy to gripe about things that need to be improved because not everything here is perfect, but we've got so many things to be thankful for. There's too much negativity, griping and complaining. If you don't like something then you should make it better.
I remember as a kid growing up until I was six in North Carolina and going back "Down South" during family trips to visit our relatives and seeing the "white only" and "black only"at the restrooms. I didn't have a clear understanding of it then. I remember coming home from school and seeing my Mom crying uncontrollably when Martin Luther King Jr. was shot. Thankfully we've gotten far beyond that. I know some will say it could be better, I agree but we've come a long way. From all I've experienced for myself, seen and read, this is the best place to live in the world regardless of race or creed.
I just read an article in the Houston Chronicle today, where a guy said Michael Vick should be given a suspension even if he's innocent because his name has come up in this controversy. Another guy on MSNBC says they should suspend him not because he's guilty but they should do it to protect the league. That means if somebody accuses you of something you should get suspended. That's a great idea. Maybe I should accuse these two writers of abusing their kids without any evidence and ask the people work for to fire them. It sounds like the Soviet Union. I'm not saying I know what happened but I'll tell you it wouldn't be a stretch to find out his cousin who was caught at the mall selling some weed, also was using Michael Vick's name and doing illegal things.
I've seen cousins and brothers and acquaintances throw a famous person's name around. I'm not convinced Vick did anything wrong because the dogs found at his house in Virginia were found in good condition. The prosecutor said so. It's not a stretch to believe his cousins was not only sell weed behind Vick's back but also take the dogs out on occasion and fight them in dogfights. That informant could be saying what he's saying to try to get some years knocked off his sentence. Since when did ESPN start working with the FBI and informants. They had Ray Lewis in doing analysis and he admitted to keeping evidence from the police in a double murder . By the way that double murder is still unsolved but ESPN didn't consult any informants when they brought Ray Lewis in to give his opinion.
I'm not saying Vick is squeaky clean but I'm saying he could very easily be innocent. Remember we have a coach here in Philly whose kids were living in his house, using heroin and carrying handguns but he didn't know about it. According to these writers we should suspend Andy Reid from the league because he was associating with law breakers. In fact he's still associating with them.
Ryan Howard showed up in a big way on Sunday with a couple of two run home runs to help the Phils sweep the Braves.don't think there's any question that the Phillies bats will do their job, the question is, will their pitching hold up.
I don't feel sorry for Kobe Bryant and the fact that he wants the Lakers front office to rebuild a team to a championship level. Kobe was the one who couldn't play with Shaq, now he has sobered up his thinking and he realizes he can't win a championship by himself.
God Bless
