The Philadelphia Eagles today announced TE L.J. Smith underwent successful surgery on Wednesday to repair a sports hernia. The procecure was performed by Dr. William Meyers in Philadelphia.
Smith will not participate in the team’s upcoming OTA practices from June 5-14. His status will be evaluated over the next several weeks to determine if he will be ready to begin practicing at the start of training camp. Veterans are scheduled to report to training camp on July 30.
That was the statement the Eagles released this morning. Nobody had any idea that Smith was injured but I don't think it will factor in his performance this year because he'll have plenty of time to get back to 100% by the time the season starts.
