The Victorino home run was amazing and shows how small that ball park is. He's a little guy who hits a ball to the opposite field, off the end of the bat and it six to ten rows over the fence. Are you kidding me?
No wonder pitchers complain about how that ballpark can't stop a popup from going out. The Phils won the game yesterday but their problems in the bullpen continue to show. I made the mistake of thinking that game was in the bag when they took the lead. These guys coming out of that bullpen are terrible. It was nice to see Ryan Howard come out strong with the big home run. I hope they at least hang around to the wild card so that there's a remote reason to watch the games.
I had good time last night on Friday night at the installation of my good friend lawyer Eric Spevak to the position of President of the Camden County Bar. The event which took place on the USS New Jersey battleship raised thousands of dollars for youngsters in Camden, who don't have school supplies and it also benefitted the New Jersey National Guard.
Last night I took the entire family to Old Bookbinders and we had a great time celebrating our oldest daughter Allie going to Houston to take a teaching position with the Teach For America foundation. It's sad Allie's leaving but you can't hold kids back, you've got to let them go for it. Our youngest daughter Allyse is in California going to school.
What's up with Billy Donovan going back to Florida? How can this guy have the nerve to change his mind all these times? He obviously moved before his heart had really totally decided on going to Orlando. The dude Andy Katz on ESPN was going out of his way to talk about how tough the decision was for Donovan. He's in a can't lose situation with millions of dollars on either side. Despite Katz' tears I'm not going to be crying for Donovan. He may have been able to win with all that talent in Orlando.
All you LaBron James haters have to give the boy his due. He stepped up big-time against the Pistons now we'll see what he can do against the Spurs. I'm not predicting that they will win the series but it will be a much better battle than everybody thinks. The series will go at least 6 games. It won't be a sweep. I'd love to see it go seven. It would be great for the NBA.
