I don't get a thing out of making a judgement, that's somebody is a worthless loser. I especially don't like to make a habit of it because I'm not exactly perfect, myself. That's why I love sports because the athletes and their coaches always have the chance to got out and redeem themselves. That's why Negadelphia should stop being so quick to bury people. Charlie Manuel might not be as bad as everybody has been saying.
How do you like those Phillies? They're right back in the hunt. It's amazing that they're so close because Ryan Howard went down, Tom Gordon went down, Brett Myers went down and Freddie Garcia, but they're still there. Yes and they're led by that idiot of a manager. If they make the playoffs I'm going to give Charlie Manuel and Pat Gillick credit, regardless of whatever mistakes I can accuse them of making.
Just because somebody fails during one game, one season or ten seasons, doesn't make them a failure. We buried Terry Francona and laughed at him. He was a joke and a clown. Francona managed maybe the biggest baseball team accomplishment of the century, when his Boston Red Sox came back from a 0-3 deficit to beat the New York Yankees. They went on to win the World Series and it was an historic accomplishment. Admit or not but Francona stayed positive and created the environment that allowed his players to do their jobs. You might say it was luck. Well we could sure use some luck around here.
I know Charlie Manuel has made his share of mistakes and he might not be the smartest manager in the big leagues, but a lot of time it's not about being smart with strategy as much as it is knowing how to get the best out of your players. Right now everybody has to get off of Charlie. This dude might help this team stumble into something good.
In saying all of this, I'm not saying we shouldn't criticize the manager and the players for poor performances. But what I am saying we shouldn't be so quick to pronounce somebody a loser because of one thing that they do. We shouldn't identify people by their weaknesses. A great example would be to start identifying Ryan Howard by his speed. The fact that the Phillies want to play for Charlie Manuel is nothing to sneeze at.
