I've done a number of radio interviews about the artilce I wrote about Jevon Kearse. I don't enjoy exposing parts of the players private lives, but I don't mind ripping them if they're not giving their best effort. If players don't give 100% in preparation before a game and another 100% in effort during the game, I have no problem ripping them.
I just hope Jevon shows up to Lehigh with some weight on his bones and more strength in his upper body. Kearse is one of the most gifted players in the NFL. He had a big year during his rookie season with the Tennessee Titans and hasn't improved since then. This guy has always had the speed to get double digit sacks, but the thing he lacks is a power game. You'd figure this guy would be living in the weightroom. If he were to dedicate himself in the weightroom for 6 months of an off-season, he could get strong enough to be unstoppable pass rusher.
He's got the raw talent to do it. Remember the guy who was supposed to provide consistent pass rush for the Birds. This is a huge year for many players on this football team and the veterans through out it, have no time to waste. Do you think Brian Dawkins, Takeo Spikes and Jeremiah Trotter are thinking about a few years from now or are they thinking about winning a Super Bowl this season?.
They need a big year out of Jevon and he knows it. So despite the fact that I'm regretting all of the publicity for blasting Jevon, I hope he gets the message because he's got teammates that noticed his drastic weight loss. Twelve or more sacks will do the trick, Jevon.
