What Will Birds Do At DE?

From Phil,

G, Considering how badly Howard, McDougle, and Kearse have failed to meet expectations, is there any hope that Abiamiri can handle the job by mid-season? If not, what options are there?

Phil,

I think Victor Abiamiri will be able to rotate but the Eagles are going to have to get something out of Darren Howard and Jevon Kearse.  Abiamiri should be able to do a decent job versus the run but I don't think he'll fair as well as a pass rusher.  He won't be able to overpower the offensive linemen he faces. Remember they also have Trent Cole and Juqua Thomas in their defensive end rotation.  As for Jerome McDougle, it's going to be hard for him to make the team. I Agree With You About ESPN

From Sammy Stambaugh,

You are so right about ESPN. Lately I've been cringing by the way they've gone downhill.  It's bad enough that they program endless NASCAR and Poker these days, it's just amazing and infuriating to me how much they promote Barry Bonds and recently Sammy Sosa.  At one point I counted 500 references to Bonds breaking the record without one single mention of the fact that he's a cheater. Why are they continuing to do this ?   No way Bonds has anywhere near that many homers without the juice, are we supposed to ignore that ?  It would seem that THEY are.  Anyway I really enjoy your site.

He Loves The Micah Warren Articles

From Brett Krauss,

I enjoy reading the Micah Warren articles. I agree with a lot of his views. Very good site. I'm tired of reading Dave Spadaro & how flawless the Eagles are.

Loves the One Stop Eagles Shopping

From Doug W. in Abington,

G – Let me just say that I love your Eagles links.  It saves me time each day from having to surf from news site to news site to pick up all of the Eagles news on a piece-meal basis.  You have it all in one place.  Thanks!

He Wants to Know Who Will, Mike And Sam Are

From Lain

Hi, Just a quick question as a newbie to the NFL (I was born in England, and have only been into the eagles for the last 4/5 seasons). Whenever I read articles concerning the linebacker position, they are always known as Will, Mike and Sam, but never explained. Where did this designation come from and what does it mean? Sorry if the question is a bit trivial for you but would help me a lot.

Lain,

These are code names for the different linebacker positions and were created years ago by defensive coordinators, so that they could communicate quicker with their players.  I don't know for a fact who did it first but Tom Landry was the first defensive coordinator.  Will is short for the weakside linebacker or the linebacker lined up away from the tight-end.  Mike is short for the middle linebacker. Sam is short for the strongside linebacker.
