From John,
G – To see the Phillies run out and help the grounds crew on Sunday when
people were getting trapped under the tarp was really something. I
witnessed guys that were getting ready to fly to the All Star Game, guys
that had just thrown 110 pitches, and all of the others put aside their
personal safety to stand out in the steady rain and do the hard work to
help their brothers in a visiting city.
The display of sportsmanship, caring, serving others, and courage was
spectacular. This was a great moment in Philadelphia sports history that
should not be taken lightly.
John,
I couldn't agree with you more. Everybody takes shots at the Phils on a consistent basis but this incident says so much about the people who play baseball for the Phils. They're good people. You had guys making millions out there risking their health to help guys making barely more than minimum wage. It was just people helping people and it revealed the heart of these guys. This should be highlighted and celebrated.
