Michael Vick was indicted today on multiple charges by the Federal Government after a dogfighting investigation which went on for months.
A couple of weeks ago ESPN reported that Vick wasn't going to be indicted but that has proven to be flat out wrong. He is in some major trouble because the Feds don't normally press charges that they can't prove. One would be led to believe that they have some very strong evidence against Vick. The Feds searched his Virginia property twice and are said to have recovered the remains of numerous dogs which were killed after fights.
The former number one pick in the draft is in an awful situation and we may never see Vick play in the National Football League again. I don't see how he'll be able to focus on football with these charges hanging over his head. What are the Atlanta Falcons going to do? They traded away promising backup Matt Schaub earlier this off season, so the Falcons find themselves in an awful predicament.
The Atlanta Falcons are going to issue a statement later today. Arthur Blank and General Manager Rich McKay are traveling right now are thus unavailable for comment.
Who knows maybe the Falcons will pursue Daunte Culpepper who was released today by the Miami Dolphins? Culpepper is still recovering from a disastrous knee injury he suffered a couple of years ago.
Moments ago on NFL Network Adam Schefter says that the Jacksonville Jacguars will pursue Culpepper. Jacguar head coach Jack Del Rio has gone on the record and told his other quarterbacks that he would bring in Culpepper if he were to become available.
