I see that Mike Patterson has taken Brodrick Bunkley under his wing. Bunkley trails him around like a little brother.
I like it because it's given Brodrick an idea of the seriousness of these practices and this profession. There hasn't been much room inside for the 2nd string offense's running game because Bunkley and Patterson have stopped things up. One thing for sure, Brodrick is playing lower. He's making things a lot easier for himself by not relying solely on his brute strength. You can see he's all ears when the coach is talking because he knows that the pro football game has a lot to do with being smart as well as strong.
Mike Patterson is very quiet but he's steady and mature so he's a good guy to have in the ear of Brodrick. Patterson is no-nonsense but he's always prepared and giving his maximum effort.
I like the job backup tackles Ian Scott and LaJuan Ramsey are doing. They've done and excellent job of battling the first string offense when they've try to run right at them. These two have been vulnerable to the draw plays where they've allowed themselves to be pushed outside. Ramsey has been battling the "The Big Kid" Shawn Andrews. The fact that he's been holding his own says Ramsey is getting better. Andrews did handle him pretty easily in the one on one drills.
Trent Cole repeated the same stupid move he made a year ago that cost the Eagles the New York Giants game. He didn't try to kick somebody in the nuts but it was just as bad. During the live drills he can handled by Winston Justice to the point that he was knocked on his back while trying to rush the passer. Rather than take the butt-whupping like a man, he attacked Justice after the play when his back was turned. Before Justice could turn around his guard Max Jean-Gilles got his back. Gilles attacked Cole before everybody could break it up.
They've got to stop Cole from losing his temper and his poise. The first play after the fight, the offense gave the ball to Jason Davis and a quick cut back play and he ran for about eight yards through the hole that Cole was susposed to be occupying. Somebody has to calm Cole down or get him off the field in these situations. He would have been thrown out of a game for the stupid move he made. I think he was already mad because of the way Justice had blocked him during the one on one drills. I like the fact that Trent won't back down to any one but he can't hurt the team by doing something stupid.
Jevon Kearse still has his burst around the corner. He knocked down one of McNabb's roll out passes on Wednesday and he was all over the flea flicker that A.J.'s group tried to run today. He's also been active against the run. In the one on one drills he schooled one of the young tackles. it wasn't even fair because Kearse flew by the kid.
Young Victor Abiamiri has made his presence known right away. I saw him drop a number of running plays for no gains and losses.
