I just learned from a source with the Eagles that the 2007 season of Shawn Andrews is in doubt. The doctors, the Eagles and Shawn really don't know whether he's going to be able to return to action this year.
Big Shawn was being truthful the other day when he talked about his visit to the doctor's office. “When the doctor said what he said to me about different situations, it was a tearjerker,” Andrews said. “Sometimes things happen when you have a 300-pound body on a leg that's been broken. It's tough. … Pain's not the issue. It's out of my hands. It's out of my doctor's hands.”
There's still a chance that he could return to action but the Eagles, the doctor and Big Shawn have no surety that he will return this year. Andy was telling the truth when he said that Andrews is a very emotional player. He is. But he was also being honest the other day when he said, “I don't know what the future holds. Time will tell. No one knows. It's out of my hands. I just have to keep praying, keep working and keep grinding.”
Shawn said the doctor told him that this situation is different from the other time when he broke it.
“I knew I'd be back in nine or 10 months. Sometimes when something happens the second time, it's not always as good.”
I know Andy is not going to like the fact that this information is out but what can you do. This is not a slight against anybody. We all hope Shawn returns to action.
Shawn finished the other night by saying, “Just pray for me if you care about me."
I'm praying for you kid.
