I said before that Donovan McNabb's best football is ahead of him and that's what we saw tonight. McNabb looked sharp, the arm was alive and the passes were on the money.
Donovan started out with a dart to Kevin Curtis. Then he came back with another dart to Jason Avant. Immediately everybody in the stadium and the Panthers realized that this wasn't the same Eagles team that finished up the season a year ago, or the one that was embarrassed by the Ravens on Monday night. The Eagles were armed again and now able to strike from anywhere on the field. Hopefully it doesn't mean that they abandon the running game.
The current McNabb sees the field better than he ever has in his NFL career. His accuracy is better than it's ever been. Plus his ability to throw the deep ball may be as good as any other QB in the league. He's a better pure pocket QB than he was in 2004 when he threw 31 TD's with only 9 interceptions. He'll be headed to a big year if the Birds balance their attack.
Andy was in good spirits after the game. Really behind the organized exterior is a comedian. Reid likes the joke around when he gets the chance. He played with the media after the game and you can believe that was because the way McNabb and the team played.
Brent Celek continues to shine. He seems to have a great feel for the offense and finding the dead spots in the zone. You can't really teach that. Either you have it or you don't .
I liked the way Tony Hunt ran low and powered his way into the endzone. The Eagles may finally have a short yardage and goalline running back.
The defensive line was awesome in putting pressure on Jake Delhomme, but they looked great last year at this time. Jim Johnson has got to rotate them and keep them fresh. Jevon Kearse missed some plays because of a sore knee. Juqua Thomas, Mike Patterson Trent Cole and Bunkley all took turns making plays in the Panthers offensive backfield.
That was a beautiful interception and return by Lito Sheppard. Lito was just being Lito by anticipating an out route then stepping in front of it and taking it to the house.
