I had heard last year during the off season from a source that the Eagles were leaning toward replacing Jeremiah Trotter. They didn't decide to cut him last year they decided to move him from a civilian court to a military court.
When the coaches move you to the military court, you are going to be treated like a "free agent". Free agents unlike draft choices have to prove immediately that they're worthy of making the team while draft choices have some time to prove themselves. If a free agent stumbles at all, then they cut them. This is the situation Trotter was coming into this season.
In a civilian court, you are innocent until proven guilty. In a military court, you are guilty until proven innocent. I could tell by the way they were treating him in the camp. As I said previously, they gave Trot one practice off during the training camp. This said it all to me. That meant he had to prove to Jim Johnson and the defensive coaches that he could still do the job. He wasn't going to get the benefit of the doubt.
