Eagles head coach Andy Reid refused to answer any questions about his son's legal problems at today's news conference. He got up at the end of the news conference and left the auditorium while being peppered by questions. .
It looked must worse on television than it really was. Andy ended the conference abruptly as the reporters tried to ask him some questions about his son's ongoing legal problems. The news conference started at about 1:30pm when Andy walked into the Nova Care Complex auditorium. The news conference was really supposed to start at 1:00pm but it ran late because the Birds were practicing.
Reid had warned the media that he would walk out if he were asked questions about his son. Andy almost got up and walked early in the news conference when a question was asked about Britt’s legal problems. He sat back down when somebody asked another football question.
I don't blame Andy for refusing to talk about his son Britt's legal problems. I don't think it has anything to do with him doing his job even though he did take time off before because of it. I know he feels the news media is being intrusive. I do think Andy has the responsiblity to say, "my son's problems won't affect me doing my job and I have no plans to take any time off.
He has to address it at the beginning of the news conference then he can move on to something else. I know it's a pain in the butt, but the media has a responsiblity as well. This is going to be an issue that stays around the entire season. There are going to be court dates and continuing developments surrounding Andy's son Britt's legal problems. Plus there's no question that this trouble will occupy the mind of Andy as long as the trouble continues.
