I’ve been totally disappointed with what I’ve seen of Jevon Kearse. He hasn't shown us this preseason that he's ready to have a big year. Jevon was supposed to be a superstar when he came here, but we haven’t seen superstar production.
While the media was climbing all over Donovan McNabb this off season for not holding news conferences when they wanted him to, Five was here in town working hard day in and day out. McNabb was focused on getting himself ready to play football. Like him or not, the guy has proven to be a professional who treats his job seriously and prepares himself diligently. He’s been well ahead of schedule on his recovery and has looked great this preseason.
On the other hand you can't say the same about Jevon Kearse, who has done virtually nothing in the games this preseason. Kearse was hurt in the 2nd game of last season. McNabb was hurt nearly two months later in week number 10, yet Kearse is the one having knee swelling and sitting out games. He has failed to make any big plays during the preseason. Plus, I don't see the sprinter speed any more when Kearse is pursuing the ball. I expected him to run down one of the screens or at least show up in the screen. Jevon was a non-factor. In fact, his backup Juqua Thomas has outplayed him.
I wanted to see Jevon take his game to another level by perfecting an inside move to work along with his speed outside. He still allows offensive linemen to widen and push him outside. A committed professional will show improvement in different areas. You don't see that in Kearse. His best year was his first year in the league. It's been down hill from there.
Kearse played the first half of the game against the Steelers but looked like the invisible man and the Steelers were rolling up 297 yards of offense. On pass downs there were no double teams on Jevon and very little QB pressure from him. Kearse was blocked effectively each time and made his presence known only one time when he was being blocked by a back up tight end in a goalline situation. On that play, he was able to get some pressure on the Steelers QB Ben Roethlisberger
On the 18 yard touchdown run by Willie Parker, Steelers tight Heath Miller blocked down on Kearse and totally buried him. Usually the defense likes the match of a defensive end versus a tight end but Jevon was totally wiped out on the play. He left a hole so big that you could have driven an eighteen wheeler through it.
The Eagles have paid big money to Jevon for three years, but they haven’t gotten the corresponding production. I don’t how long the Birds will continue to get short changed. I haven't heard that Kearse is in any danger of being released. I'm starting to wonder why not. With the release of Jeremiah Trotter the Birds need more out of Kearse in leadership and playmaking. I didn't see Jevon step forward at all on Sunday night.
My spouse and i got quite happy that John managed to do his preliminary research through the entire precious recommendations he grabbed out of your web pages. It is now and again perplexing to just continually be giving out points which others might have been trying to sell. We see we now have you to thank for this. These illustrations you made, the straightforward website navigation, the relationships your site make it possible to promote – it is mostly terrific, and it is making our son in addition to us recognize that this theme is satisfying, which is certainly unbelievably serious. Thanks for the whole thing!
