Eagles Should Blitz The Young Pack

We all know that Jim Johnson loves to blitz and put pressure on the opposing offense.  The Packers will do all they can to stay out of situations where Johnson and the Birds can tee off on them.  This situational battle will be a major factor in who wins this game.

The Pack will be relying on rookie running backs Brandon Jackson, Korey Hall and DeShawn Wynn as well as rookie receiver James Jones to be key contributors to the offense.  Starting wide out Greg Jennings is only in his second season.  On the offensive line, guards Daryn Colledge and Jason Spitz are only second-year players.  Although these young guys will try to avoid mistakes, some mistakes will be made, nonetheless.  We can expect that some of these mistakes will be costly.

Bltzing them would be a great idea because it puts pressure on these young Green Bay players and could force them into mistakes.  When the Packers come to the line of scrimmage, Brett Favre will be barking out audibles when he spots a blitz.  The youngsters must hear the audibles then figure out what their assignments are.  They have spit seconds to figure it out.  It would be wise for the Birds to jump into their blitz look late in the count to shorten the time these young Packer players have to figure out their assignments.

The key for the Birds will be getting the Packers in blitz situations.  This can be done in a couple of ways.  The offense can get the Birds out to a quick lead or the defense can shut down the Green Bay running game.   Chances are that the Eagles offense will probably do its job better than the Eagles defense.  Either way, expect good things to happen when the Birds blitz and force Favre to audible with all of his young teammates.

The Eagles defense can't afford to make assignment errors by not getting lined up the way they're supposed to on their blitzes.
