Donovan McNabb's lack of accuracy on his throws was very apparent last night at Lincoln Financial Field as the Birds struggled offensively for the second week in a row. McNabb missed numerous open receivers with high and errant tosses.
The most costly miss was on the last drive when he had Kevin Curtis open on the two yard line on an out route. McNabb's bullet was outisde and out of the reach of Curtis. On another opportunity in the Red Zone, Reggie Brown ran a trail route across the middle and was open enough in the end zone for McNabb to zip a throw in there, but his throw was wild high.
This has been a problem throughout McNabb's career but he's been able to harness his throws enough to get the Birds into the endzone. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case last night. McNabb went on a stretch in the 2nd and 3rd quarter, where his accuracy wasn't even close to being on target. During that stretch, number five couldn't hit the broad side of a barn. He missed throw after throw which forced the Birds into a number of three and outs.
When you teamed McNabb's lack of accuracy with the inability of Eagles receivers to get open, you can see why the Birds passng game is grounded.
