From Lloyd P, G – I think you nailed it on the head. However, it might be a bit to late for the Eagles to tell andy, "guess what, here's your new boss". I don't it will sit well. However, if he can focus on coaching like his mentor did with the Seahawks, I agree we could be great.
And yes, while I don't like the arrogance displayed by the entire front office, it's not Andy's coaching that's the problem, it's the talent. You can't expect GLew to play like JRice. Heck does GLew, Celek, Justice, Gillis, McOyyy, Mahe, Tapeh, JR Reed, Dorenbos (to name justa few) even belong in the league. And then not to mention, is Curtis a number one, Brown a number two, Buck a solid backup, Kearse and Howard bench players, Gaither a MLB, Consodine a starter?
Notice each year the talent has been getting worse. We keep getting more and more marginal player. In my list I have not even included the failed draft picks. Moats when you could have had Barber or Turner? It's nice to have the Trent Coles of the world and that might be their saving grace. But far too often they have blow 1st, 2nd & 3rd round picks on the weak players.
This team is filled with a bunch of guys carrying man purses. There really is very little toughness and heart. Those are usually the hallmarks of a champion. I think the colts are the only team in long time with purses that have won anything. Maybe even in the history of the NFL. People say San Fran was a finess team. Roger Craig was a tough as they come. So was that defense. People feared Lott. It's really a shame we've wasted the careers of great players like Runyan, Dawkins, Vincent, Trotter, Simon (in his prime), McNabb to name a few. People say Brady won with nothing. Well Bellicheat deployed cameras & ran Smith into the ground the first superbowl. Also Givens, Grant & Brown were much better than what we have. Bellicheat and Gruden will run if they know they can average 3 yards a carry. Andy will not even if he knows that he can average 7 a carry.
We need toughness, heart and smplicity. Focus on execution and make your system simple enough that even your rookies can have an impact.
