I think the Eagles can beat the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night. The Birds defense will be the key. They've got to be ready to force the undisciplined Tony Romo into making mistakes, then catch the interceptions and recover the fumbles.
Romo is prone to taking foolish chances , so the Birds defense must be poised to take advantage of them. He has shown throughout his twenty or so starts that he can be a walking and talking turnover machine. Jim Johnson took Romo to the cleaners last year in Texas Stadium when the Birds beat Boys, He's got to put together another complicated game plan to keep Romo and his receivers confused.
The Birds run defense must continue their solid play because they want to isolate Romo and put Dallas' fortunes on his back. Once they reduce the effectiveness of Marion Barber and Julius Jones, they've got to take away Jason Witten. He's the guy that gives Romo a safety valve across the middle any time the Dallas quarterback gets in trouble. I don't like the match up of Witten against Chris Gocong and the Eagles safeties Quintin Mikell and Sean Considine. The defensive ends and linebackers have got to delay Witten's release to help whomever is covering him.
Next up will be Trent Cole and company. They've got to get after Romo and pound him even if they can't sack him. The defensive line has got to go after the football any time Romo is scrambling. The Dallas signal caller does a poor job of protecting the football so the Eagles have to knock the ball out when they get the chance.
If he throws the ball around against the Eagles like he did a few Monday nights ago against the Bills, the Birds will be in the win column again.
