Eagles Football Team In Shambles

The Eagles were outcoached, out hit, out executed last night by their arch rival the Dallas Cowboys. All the people who say that Andy Reid's family problems weren't going to affect the play of the football team were wrong.

The Philadelphia Eagles were not ready to play.  Maybe Andy will be able to focus on things much better now that his sons' situations continue to be troubled but they're now stable.  The managment of the football team which prides itself on doing things in an ultra-organized manner was totally haphazard.  This team is out of joint.

The team was outcoached.  As I expected the Cowboys came after Donovan McNabb and put constant pressure on him.  Wade Phillips has that defense playing much better than they did last year under Bill Parcells.  The Eagles weren't able to block DeMarcus Ware and Greg Ellis and it started on the first offensive play of the game.  The Eagles offensive game plan was to throw the ball downfield against the Cowboys but it was unsuccessful because McNabb was off target and as usual the wide receivers were having trouble dealing with the jams on the line of scrimmage.  Disappointingly, the Birds offensive line was dominated by the Cowboys defensive line and I knew if they didn't play well the team was doomed.

The defense was totatlly outplayed by the Dallas offense.  It's a day after the game and Terrell Owens still hasn't been covered by any of the Eagles.  Jim Johnson was taken to the cleaners by  Cowboys offensive coordinator Jason Garrett.  He knew the Birds were going to blitz, so he had Owens beating the man to man coverage by coming inside and running crossing routes.  Dallas also had running Marion Barber leaking through the line late, knowing the Birds defenders were blitzing and leaving Barber unaccounted for.  Other teams are going to see this on film  and do the same thing when they catch Johnson and his defense blitzing.
