Frank, G- Great job on this site and on WIP. The rest of the Philly media should take some notes from this site. I am getting really tired of the criticism of Donavan McNabb.
For the life of I dont understand why this guy is getting torn apart about his play this year. Has everyone forgot that this guy has come back from an injury that normally takes years to even get back healthy enough to get on the field? Take a look and Dante Culpepper this injury might end his career and he cant even start for the Raiders. Donavan , yes might get hurt alot but he plays hurt, and works like an maniac to get back on the field. Donavan isnt stupid. Once we drafted Kolb he knew his days were done and could of just shut it down and not risked his career to come back this year and got healthy and waited to be traded from a team that doesnt want him. If this was Brett Favre or Tom Brady playing with this injury ESPN and everyone would be talking about how much of a warrior he is and what a tough gritty player he is. Thats all we heard about Brett Favre the last few years as he was throwing 3 picks a game.
We always hear about how often he gets hurt well has anyone looked at this offensive scheme? We passs the ball and repulsive 70% of the time and ever team knows it so he is getting hit way more than he needs to. Why with a QB with such a bad leg are we still chucking and ducking it. If we ran the ball more and use play action instead of using play action when we dont run the ball like we do now how would that helped Donavan? Or how about getting some top notch reciever in here? Other thsan TO there has been no one. Todd Stinkston, James Trash, and a score of others. How long did we hold on to Bill McMullen for Pete's sake? Well chalk that one to the "Genius" GM, VP, Head Coach.
Everyone says they hate how is with the media and never takes the blame? Ok, but what about AR press conferences. He is basically spitting in our face and flipping us the bird and we hear no criticism of it.
Donavan McNabb is a class guy who works hard and wants to win. Maybe he is too passive and no a ra ra guy but neither is Derek Jeter and no one kills him for it. Maybe he isnt as accurate as a Tom Brady but there isnt any QB that doesnt have a weakness. Why does Donavan get ripped for everything he does and AR just gets a pass for his terrible play calling , terrible personal decisions and his arrogance to the fans.
Its time to think? What would we be saying about Donvan right now if lets say John Gruden or Bill Parcells was coaching? Would we have a ring? Would Donvan not be as beat up as he is ? If I were Donvan I would be releived to be traded and go somehwere where they run the ball and try to protect their QB. I hope we get rid of Reid and keep Donavan. I would love to see him be our QB under a good offensive scheme and a way better coach and a established running game.
From Bob S.,
Mr. Lurie needs to do some soul searching and ask himself how long people are going to spend good money on a franchise that delivers a mediocre product. I've been a loyal Eagles fan for 27 years but the season for me is over right now. Time to start over and rebuild the team from the ground up.
From Charles,
G, I told you to stop predicting stuff because 95% of it seems to come true. You said that Andy would start blaming McNabb, and lo and behold he has started. I think McNabb has his faults but I also think that he deserves the benefit of the doubt. Here's my example, his boy Brett Favre. Brett can't make horrible decisions and throws, but how often do you hear of him getting benched or thrown under the bus. Never, I agree he's one a superbowl and MVP awards. But, McNabb has done so much for Philly. Andy and Philly fans better be careful what they wish for, Kolb is an untested QB. He could very well be the next coming of Cade McCown or Akili Smith, or maybe even Bobby Hoying. I'm not ready to go back to those days. Not just yet. So, G stop predicting what's going to happen. I'm not ready for the 3-13 days again.
