Media Has Bullseye On McNabb

What is it about many in the sports media here in Philadelphia that they want to have McNabb's scalp?  I just saw and heard them misquote Do him in an attempt to get the Eagles offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg to blast him.

What did Donovan say yesterday that was so bad?  He said he's some of the problem with the team but he's not all of it.  He didn't single any of his teammates out but some of the reporters made statements to Mornhinweg as if McNabb was pointing fingers.  Pointing fingers is when you say a certain player or a certain part of the team isn't doing their job.  He didn't say that but I heard some of the guys try to intimate that he said that.  That's a flat out lie.  I don't like the fact that too many guys in the media are willing to do whatever they have to do to get or create a story.  I read and listened to what McNabb said and I didn't see a lot wrong with it.

They want McNabb to take responsibility for everything going on with the team.  He's not responsible for everything that's going wrong with the team but they still want him to say it. If you corner a guy with questions and he doesn't roll over then the local sports media is mad.  Too many people in the local sports media feel like you've got to bow to them. Players shouldn't have to bow to the media.  McNabb respectfully answers the questions he's asked but he doesn't have to get down and lick the floor regardless of how bad he plays.  He admitted he played poorly.  What else do you want?  It may surprise some who want to create a story, but not all of the Eagles problems are the result of Donovan McNabb.

How do you expect a guy who has all of the accomplishments of McNabb to say to a question about whether he's willing to support giving his job to Kevin Kolb?  I can see why McNabb feels the way he does.  Brian Dawkins played bad enough on Sunday night for somebody to ask him if he would be in favor of giving his job to somebody else.  The difference is they have too much respect  for Dawkins and his accomplishments to ask that question.  They asked Dawkins whether he felt the defense got a free pass rather than directing the question solely at him.

This type of treatment of a guy who sits and answers their questions angers me.  I saw the media develop this same level of disrespect for Randall Cunningham, but he brought some of it on himself with the "let me be me" stuff.

Yes McNabb surrendered a costly fumble and he threw a costly interception but why couldn't the Eagles run against the Cowboys.  Was McNabb getting dominated by the Cowboys defensive line?  Last year in the second Dallas game they ran the ball up and down the field against the Cowboys.  Their offensive line was healthier and they took over most of the games down the stretch.
