It’s All About You Perception

Everything is about perspective when you look a game.  For instance, the Eagles win over the Skins could be viewed in different ways.  You could say that the Eagles defense and other offensive players baled out Donovan McNabb or you could say they rallied around him.

It all depends on your perspective.  If you see Donovan McNabb as a terrible quarterback, who is amongst the worst in the league, then you feel that the team baled him out.  Of course that would mean you have to disregard all the winning that the Eagles have done with him at quarterback. If you look at him as a good quarterback who has some strengths and weaknesses, you can appreciate that McNabb played a hand in the Birds winning.

You and I both know that if this were last year with Jeff Garcia at quarterback, you would have read and heard that the team rallied around Jeff Garcia.  Brian Westbrook was doing the same things last year that he's doing this year.   Jeff Garcia was averaging under two hundred yards a game throwing the ball but that was regarded as playing great.  He benefited from a defense that was forcing key turnovers but that was all attributed to his leadership.  Yes Garcia did his job last year but the offensive line dominated and Westbrook was magnificent.  I sit and laugh at how the coverage has changed with McNabb at quarterback.  It's kind of funny when you see how different things are.

It seems that some people would like to see McNabb out there at quarterback without any of the other players on the field to help him.   That way he could be blasted constantly.

Are either of this perceptions of how the Eagles beat the Redskins facts written in stone?  No, but if you were to read and hear what the perceptions are around Philadelphia, you would think that it's impossible to see the game as the quarterback doing his job and the football team rallying around him.

People outside the area also get a big chuckle at how so many people in the Delaware Valley take things which are nothing but perceptions and turn them into facts.

The bottomline as a I see, is simply that the Eagles won the game.  No matter how or why they won the game, they had more points than Washington when the clock read 00:0.  That's all the facts which are involved in the story.  Everything else is a matter of perception.
