McNabb Should Run To The Airport

If I could I would drive Donovan McNabb to the airport, right now.   I don't see how he or any one else could play in the atmosphere he's functioning in here in Philadelphia.  The anger and animosity targeted at him is worse than the Cowboys get when they come here.

I could feel the tension in the air at his news conference, yesterday.  You would think it was a conference about putting an end to the killings that go on, on the streets of Philadelphia. No it's a news conference about who is going to play quarterback for the Eagles on Sunday.  I think the team is hampered by the cloud which hangs over it, when Donovan plays.  The negativity is so thick you can cut it with a knife.  The Eagles players listen and read about what's going on.  They've been here when everything about Donovan McNabb takes a life of its own.

A.J. Feeley, who most of the fans wanted to throw in the trash last year, is now viewed as the 2nd coming.  A guy who threw three interceptions, one of which was returned for a touchdown, the others were in the game's final minutes with the contest in question, fumbled another throw, and clumsily fell while trying to drop, is now being regarded as a great quarterback.   You and I know what the atmosphere would be if McNabb had played the same game.  it seems that everyone is in love with Feeley but really this has nothing to do with A.J. and everything to do with Donovan McNabb.

This thing has become personal between Donovan and the city. The marriage between Philly and McNabb has gotten very poisonous and should be ended as soon as possible.  This is a case of "irreconcilable differences" if I've ever seen it.  We need to get these two parties in court as soon as possible, and settle the divorce.

I look at Philly and see numerous ugly divorces between the city and it's superstars. We marry our superstars in hopes that they'll bring us a championship, but when they don't we turn on them and get bitter.  This isn't about sports any more, it's personal.  They should stop calling it sports, they've got to find some other name for it, here in the City Of Brotherly Love.
