I knew the magic that Eagles fans saw in New England wasn't going to continue. The west coast offense is designed to utilize short, pinpoint, rhythmic passes and playermakers who can take those short throws and turn them into big plays.
A.J. was the guy who I thought he was. You can't put the game on the back of Feeley and expect him to not make big mistakes. I was hoping they would get back to a conservative game plan with A.J. because that's the way they won back in 2002 with him. They could have won on Sunday with a conservative game plan. He's not a guy who can throw the ball 40 times without throwing 3 or 4 interceptions.
A.J. Feeley took a lot of chances against the Patriots, which I knew wasn't going to continue. A.J. also didn't do a good job of looking defenders off. He just dropped back and threw the football without any regard to where the defenders were dropping. In addition, you can't make a habit of throwing the ball to Greg Lewis when he's double-teamed. He got away with it in the Patriots game but I knew he wouldn't continue to be so lucky.
I also wasn't impressed with the Birds game plan because they didn't change anything up. When Lewis came into the game, Feeley threw the ball to him. The Seahawks were smart enough to double him when he entered the game. It seemed that the Seahawks ran run blitzes when the Eagles were I formation. You can't telegraph your plays and expect to be successful.
Brian Westbrook is the best player on the football team and he's got to be the guy featured in most of the games. Every game they play should include running as many plays as possible to get the ball into his hands. It's a shame that BWest is asked to do so much for this team because they've done such a poor job of getting players which fit this offense.
