L.J. And Buck To Miss Cowboys Game

The Eagles will have to play the Cowboys without L.J. Smith and Correll Buckhalter.  They really needed to have L.J. at the tight end spot.  Who knows maybe Tony Hunt will show Andy that he should have been playing all along.

Head Coach Andy Reid Press Conference

12/13/07

Injuries:

“The two players that will be out for the game are [RB] Correll [Buckhalter] and [TE] L.J. Smith. The rest of the guys practiced today and are ready to go.”

Opening Remarks:

“We look forward to the challenge of playing the Dallas Cowboys. We understand everything about the NFC East and that they’ve captured it. Right now, we respect that they’re the best team in the NFC and we look forward to that challenge of playing at their place.”

On whether RB Tony Hunt’s role will be comparable to what Buckhalter’s role normally is:

“It will be similar. It will be very similar to what Correll had done.”

On who will start at tight end:

“[Matt] Schobel’s the starter and [Brent] Celek will work in and rotate with him.”

On what the benefits were for Cowboys QB Tony Romo sitting out for a few seasons before starting:

“It looked like he learned. Everybody does it different now. It looked like he paid attention and learned and was able to transfer that into playing good football. There is natural ability that goes into there also with that learning process. But, he understands what he’s doing out there. I think he’s got good coaches, has had good coaches and he’s playing good football.”

On what he has seen from the Cowboys offensive line:

“You don’t move the football without a good offensive line, so they’ve invested in players there. They’ve got a couple veteran players that are good players. I think they’ve got a very good group playing that position.”

On whether anyone from the Cowboys offensive line stands out to him:

“They’re all playing pretty well right now.”
