The Birds Put Up Big Numbers In “W”

This was an outstanding game for the Birds.  They're no longer in the hunt for the playoffs but you would never know it by the effort the Birfds showed during the game. Here are interesting statistical notes from the game.

Chasing History…With 109 yards from scrimmage today, RB Brian Westbrook has amassed 2005 yards in 2007, which is the 2nd-highest single-season total in team history

Curtis 1,000 … WR Kevin Curtis became the 11th player in franchise history and the 2nd since Andy Reid became head coach in 1999 to eclipse the 1,000-yard receiving mark in a season. Curtis also set a career-high with 7 TDs this season.

25 Grand … With 263 passing yards today, QB Donovan McNabb eclipsed the 25,000-yard mark, becoming the 55th quarterback in NFL history and the 2nd Eagle (Ron Jaworski, 26,963) to do so. With 37 rushing yards today, QB Donovan McNabb also moved past Clarence

Peaks and into 10th place on the Eagles all-time rushing list with 2,962 yards. His 40-yard rush in the first quarter was his longest in the regular season since 10/28/02 vs. NYG (40-yard TD).

20-20-20 … Three different Eagles registered a run of 20-plus yards in the same game for the first time since 10/28/02, when McNabb (40 yards), Dorsey Levens (24), and Duce Staley did so vs. the Giants. McNabb (40), Westbrook (21), and Correll Buckhalter (20) registered 20-plus yard rushing attempts today.

Getting off the Field … The Eagles defense held the Saints to a 25% third-down conversion rate (3-12). The Saints came into the game with the top-ranked offense on third down, converting on 49.5% of their opportunities. Over the past 2 games, the Eagles have held their opponents to a combined 4 for 25 (16%) on third down.

Stewart Was Not Little … In his first career start today, LB Stewart Bradley registered his first career sack and his first career interception.

Inside the Hashes … The 98-yard touchdown drive after a goal-line stand was the longest by the Eagles since a 99-yard TD drive vs. the Giants on 10/28/02. That drive was capped by the prior-mentioned 40-yard TD run by McNabb … With 8 points today, K David Akers eclipsed the 100-pt. mark on the season for the 7th time in his career … G Max Jean-Gilles recorded his first NFL start in place of injured RG Shawn Andrews … WR Michael Gasperson played in his first NFL game, becoming the first player from the University of San Diego to do so … T Jon Runyan started his 175th consecutive game, which, entering today’s games, is the third-longest active streak in the NFL behind Brett Favre and Derrick Brooks.
