From John, G, I live in Jacksonville, Fl. and just got back from a week in Philly listening to WIP and reading the local papers. It is really interesting to listen to all of the media and fans calling in to say the Eagles should move McNabb and get rid of Reid.
Both of these things are ridiculous as Kolb is not ready and who would you bring in to upgrade Reid? I don't think the Eagles brought Kolb in to play this coming year anyway, I think the plan was always to season Kolb for two or three years and let him take over a fully functional team instead of starting the rebuild with a rookie in the saddle. This is not even talked about as a possibility that this organization is planning for it's future.
The talk now is about how Kearse was a bust and TO was mis-handled and how Howard was a bust. Keeping in mind that all of these were the best available players in free agency at their positions at the time. The same people who call them busts and blame the organization, lauded the moves when they were made and now want to go out and wildly spend on the best available free agents again. If you are the Eagles, you can not win.
Bottom line is that I want the birds to win more than anybody and I am unhappy with some of the things that went down this year but Reid and McNabb are far from done in my view. McNabb has alot left and no one really talks about the moves that are made which are unpopular at the time but are the correct moves. Staley, Douglas, Trotter, Vincent, Taylor and others were let go when everyone said the Eagles just did not want to spend the money, wrong, they were not good enough anymore. The only guy they left go that I wish they had not was DE in Oakland and he was injured almost as much as McDougle has been while he was with the Eagles.
I want a big time D-Back and another pass rusher and a super speedy return man/wide out just like everybody else but I think the Eagles have earned my trust to do what will be the right thing for the organization going forward.
