Give the Jags credit especially quarterback David Garrard. He played great but I didn't think his receivers helped him enough in the second half of the playoff game. As usual Tom Brady played magnificently, but Garrard matched him for a half..
In the second half, Garrard was let down by Dennis Northcut and Matt Jones. First Northcut, dropped a great pass by Garrard which was right in his hands on the 2 yard line. Nothcut had glanced at the safety approaching him and put the ball on the ground. This was a third down play and forced the Jags to kick a field goal. I thought it was the biggest play of the game.
In addition Garrard got no help from big wide receiver Matt Jones, who stands about 6'6" but failed to go up and come down with a pass in the endzone. He let a much smaller defender break the pass up because Jones wasn't aggressive.
These two plays were the difference in the game. Garrard had put the ball where it needed to be but the receivers didn't get the job done.
