Unlike Eagles, Giants Play Their Rookies

Somebody go tell the Eagles that the old freshman are ineligible rule doesn't apply to the NFL.  Year after year the Birds draft players and then find them a seat on the bench.  The Giants on the other hand wouldn't be in the NFC championship game were it not for their rookies.

Rookie wide receiver Steve Smith had a great game for the Giants on Sunday.  He made a couple of big catches on the drive before the half to help New York tie the game at half time.  He also made a big 3rd down catch in the game wining drive.  Here you had Eli Manning going to this rookie despite the fact that Plaxico Burress and Amani Toomer were on the field.  The kid made the catch.

In addition, on that drive which tied the score at the half, Manning hit rookie tight end Kevin Boss for a key first down on the Cowboys 4 yard line.  This kid has taken over for Jeremy Shockey and not missed a beat.

Rookie running back Ahmad Bradshaw contributed some key runs during the game.  He ran the ball down to the one before Brandon Jacobs ran it in for the winning touchdown.  Bradshaw had an even better game against Tampa Bay in the Wild Card Playoff game.
