This Sunday night on NBC-10, John Clark interviewed Eagles cornerback Sheldon Brown and he criticized Donovan McNabb for saying publicly that they needed more weapons. He felt McNabb was throwing his teammates under the bus. I totally disagree with Sheldon.
Was he crying for the receivers when they brought in Kevin Curtis? Hank Baskett or Jason Avant were going to be able to start if they hadn't brought in Curtis? This is the way the NFL is. The Eagles need help and they should try to improve. They can't waste time worrying about somebody's feelings getting hurt. If Sheldon's feelings got hurt then so be it. The next thing you know he's going to be crying like Terrell Owens.
Here are some reactions from Eagles Fans:
From Charles,
G,
Didn't see the piece, but here's my comment on what I've heard and read. Sheldon is being being very naive and sensitive about the situation. This is Sports and supposedly men. If you are doing your job to the best of your ability and you are the best at what you do, then you have no worries about job security. IF NOT, then guess what, be worried, be very worried. Anyone who watched the Eagles would agree with what McNabb said. When did Sheldon become the defense' mouthpiece anyway. He's got to make a few pro bowls first.
From Dargan the local Philly actor, Hello Micah, did you see Sports Final on Sunday? Sheldon Brown is a hypocrite. What he said was worse than what McNabb said that he so disagreed with.Him coming out saying yes that need to create more turn overs, but what the point if the offense don't do nothing with them. He threw McNabb and the whole offense under the bus. McNabb only said what he should have said and what Favre was praised for when he said it, that they need talent on all three teams, Offense, Defense and Special teams he spoke as a leader and instead of Westbrook, Dawkins, Sheldon Brown and the other so called leaders on the team backing McNabb showing that they are together and voicing a united front to push for Big time playmakers on the team, He rather take a stab at McNabb and all other voices from the teams leaders are silent. This only shows that the Eagles have a lot more problems then just talent and playmakers, which is a huge need for the Eagles, but that they are not a team, not together, don't have each others back and are not on the same page. Theres too much fighting an inner bickering and their play reflects that on the field. What this is also revealing is that Reid is losing the team. I'm really surprised this is not making more news because what Brown said was disgraceful. The other thing Brown didn't realize he did was make McNabb's point. He said being as though the team when 8-8 you would be crazy not to think the Eagles need to make changes but he wouldn't come out and say it out loud like McNabb did, but when he said that didn't he say it out loud like McNabb? You do a great job on GCobb.com.
From Marlon, Hey did you see Sheldon Brown's interview sunday night? They made his dumb self contradict his self. First he said he would not throw any of his teamates under the bus. And the next thing you know Howard asked him about the turnover's and he said that if we got turnovers what are we going to do with them. He should just shut his mouth because he always have something to say and his corner play is not great anyway. Did you catch that in the interview?
Marlon, I didn't see it live but I've heard what he said and it's obvious that he's just being sensitive. They accuse Donovan of being thin skinned but Sheldon thinks it's a big deal when McNabb says they should get more weapons. You're right in that he has no problem criticizing the offense but he thinks it's a big deal that Donovan said they need more weapons. I'll bet you Sheldon would agree if he had said they need a better pass rush, which they need.
