Andy’s Open To Adding Playmakers

Andy Reid is in Mobile, Alabama for the week for the Senior Bowl.  Reid says he's open to adding playmakers to the roster.  I don't think that saying much because if he wasn't open to adding playmakers why would he even go down to Mobile for the week.

The mentality of the Eagles has got to change.  Andy and his crew believe that their system is more important than the players they have on the field.  Players make the difference more than the system.  One of the GCobb.com readers tells us why the Birds must add a number one receiver.

 From Jerel,

G,
The Giants game further proves why the Eagles need a stud wide reciever.  It's not surprising that Plaxico Burress allowed Eli Manning and the Giants to move the ball and outscore the Packers.  Eli is the toast of New York right now, but it was the defense and Plaxico that won the game for the Giants.  Burress had 154 of the 254 passing yards.  Al Harris often had good coverage on Plaxico, but Eli threw it his way and Plaxico consistantly found a way to make the catch.  I have had to watch Plaxico torch the Eagles twice a year for a while now.  I do give Eli credit for throwing the football, but Plaxico is always open because no corner can blanket the 6'-6 reciever that can get deep(ask Lito or Sheldon).

I love the people that say the Patriots have won 3 Super Bowls without a great reciever.  True, but Tom Brady is the exception to the rule,  he's quickly establishing himself as the best quarterback in the history of the NFL before he even turns 30.  Give the Eagles Tom Brady and I will stop screaming for a wide reciever.  I call Tom Brady the Micheal Jordan of the NFL.  Micheal Jordan won 6 NBA titles without a dominant big man just like Brady won 3 titles with average recievers.  Sorry to get off topic.

The Eagles passionate fans are getting tired of being sold a false bill of goods that the current recievers combined with an aging quarterback can compete for a Super Bowl.  The Giants have Plaxico, the Cowboys have Owens, the Packers have Driver, the Colts have Harrison, the Patriots have Moss, the Chargers now have Chambers.  Am I expected to believe the Eagles are better than all those teams with the current roster combined with a 2008 first round pick that won't play until the 2009 season, I'm not that naive.  It's insulting to hear Andy Reid say they are as good as any other team in the league while sitting in the basement of the division.  Just buy some goodwill by saying the team has to take steps to get better and leave it at that.
