Brett Favre let the Green Bay Packers know yesterday that he plans on retiring. The amazing thing about what I just found out was that Randy Moss and his inner circle had also been in contact with Favre and he was squeezing Green Bay into making a play for Moss. Favre decided to step away after finding out that Moss had resigned with the Pats..
Randy Moss was obviously reaching out to the franchise quarterbacks, who he knew had some pull with their football teams. He reached out to at least Favre, Donovan McNabb and Tom Brady. I know he wanted to stay in New England but he wanted to try to get a better offer from the Pats.
Back to Favre's retirement, he made a call to the Packers yersterday right after Moss agreed to sign with the Patriots. His decision to retire and the fact that the Packers didn't go after Moss are tied together.
I know that Moss and Favre have the same agent and had been in contact with each last year, when Brett was begging the Packers to go after Randy.
