The Arizona Cardinals are trying to find some comfort as they are squeezed under the pressure of Larry Fitzgerald's enormous salary. They're considering extending the contract of backup quarterback Kurt Warner as a means of freeing up some salary cap space.
The Cards are trying to get Fitzgerald to restructure in contract, but they haven't been successful as of yet. The star receiver is unwilling to give back any money so there's no telling whether they'll ever be able to get anything done. If Fitzgerald and the Cards fail to restructure his deal, they'll be left looking stupid and being exposed as the fools that they are.
If Arizona's front office and traded Fitzgerald just before free agency, All-Pro offensive guard Alan Faneca would be a Cardinal. He wanted to come to Arizona and the team's coaching staff wanted him. The fact that the Cards hung onto to Fitzgerald and his enormous salary, it took them out of the free agent sweepstakes.
Now if the Cardinals trade Fitzgerald, they won't have in free agents to sign. This is the reason the Cards have been stuck in or near the basement of the NFL for such a long time.
They have fools running their football team.
