Jay Wright wasn't interested in Scottie Reynolds when the McDonald's All-American guard called Nova to see if they might have a spot for him on the Main Line. That changed with point guard Kyle Lowry decided to leave for the NBA. Wright and Nova are glad that they changed their minds.
Reynolds has the Wildcats in the field of 16 after leading them to a victory over the Siena Saints on Sunday afternoon in Tampa, Florida.
Tampa was crazy all weekend in the NCAA tournament so fittingly they had a number 12 seed Villanova taking on a 13 seed Siena in the final game to see who was going to earn the honor of battling number one see Kansas in Detroit next Friday.
Reynolds came out gunning and scored 17 points in the first half of what turned out to be a lopsided win over the Siena team which has upset fourth-seeded Vanderbilt.
The Saints play a wide open style and were no match for Reynolds and his teammates. Reynolds finished the game with 25 points, eight rebounds and five assists. His teammate Corey Stokes poured in 20 points as the Wildcats built up a two-digit lead and never looked back.
