Williams Told To Ignore Trade Rumors

Detroit's Roy Williams says he's not going to let the trade rumors which are swirling around him get him worried.  Lions head coach Rod Marinelli called Williams and told him not to worry about all the rumors.  I've found that normally when all these rumors are swirling around there's something to them.

Something could happen with Williams close to the draft.  Usually teams do things right before or during the draft.

Williams was drafted when Andy Reid's friend and fellow West Coast offense coach Steve Mariucci was the head man.  Williams has already played in the west coast offense and you know how much of a factor that could be.  Remember another guy who played for Mariucci, Terrell Owens and wound up here in Philadelphia playing for the Eagles.

He's a player who's worth keeping an eye on because he's a specimen and he knows the west coast offense.

Williams was quoted when responding to questions about the rumors of the Lions trading him, "If it's a football decision, it's a dumb decision. But if it's a business decision, then it's going to be pretty good. I just do what I can. I'm here right now."

He means if the Lions are considering trading him because they know they don't want to pay him and young Calvin Johnson ten million dollars a year then that makes season.  On the other hand, he's saying if they're trading him because  of his production as a receiver then that's stupid.  Personally I agree with him.  This dude is a player.

He's a bonafide number one pass catching threat. His ability to go up and take the ball from people is note worthy.

Williams hasn't really broken out with a Terrell Owens or Randy Moss type season but he does have that type of ability.  He stands 6'2" and weighs 220 pounds.  The key is his combination of size and speed.  This allows him to overpower defenders and dominate.

He's capable of making the amazing catch even though he does drop the easy pass at times.  Williams does have the ability to take the Eagles offense to another level.
