Hair Length Issue At Owners Meetings

It seems that the NFL Owners and the NFL Players Association are on a collision course with the issue of hair length.  The current collective bargaining agreement states clearly that a player can't be disciplined because of hair length but the owners want to change it.

The league will try to limit the players hair length which hangs outside their helmets so that it doesn't cover the players' names on the backs of their jerseys. The players won't be required to cut their hair, they will only have to tuck it in their helmets.

This was proposed by the Kansas City Chiefs but doesn't have to be agreed upon by the players union because the collective bargaining agreement states that players can't be disciplined because of hair length.

Last year Chiefs running back Larry Johnson tackled Pittsburgh safety Troy Polamalu by his hair after Polamalu picked off a pass and tried to return it.

Former Eagles cornerback Al Harris who has had an outstanding career with the Green Bay Packers would surely be one of the players who has hair flowing outside his helmet.

I remember Al telling me that his power was in his hair.  If so Delilah must have gotten a hold of him before that playoff game last season between the Packers and the Giants.  Plaxico Burress treated him like he owned him.

New Orleans cornerback Mike McKenzie is also a guy who these discussions would affect.

We'll see where this goes to.
