The Eagles have a number of avenues they could choose from in order to acquire a big-time wide receiver talent. They could go the trade route with the valuable chip of All-Pro cornerback Lito Sheppard or they could try to grab one of the young wide outs in the draft.
I sat down with NFL draft analyst Chris Steuber of Scout.com and we talked about the receivers the Birds could go after via trade or in the draft who could solve their need of a true #1 wide reciever.
Top wide outs they could go after via trade are Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmendzadeh of the Bengals, Anquan Boldin of the Cardinals and Roy Williams of the Lions. Any of them would be a tremendous improvement to the targets Donovan McNabb would be throw the ball to.
As for top wide receivers in the draft, you have Limas Sweed of Texas, Malcolm Kelly of Oklahoma, DeSean Jackson of California, Devin Thomas of Michigan State or Early Doucet of LSU.
